I need to do something very simple: dry some items with low heat for several hours.
This task is literally impossible with my LG "smart" drier. It has no temperature control whatsoever. The only way to dry without heat is to download the "Air Dry" cycle from the ThinQ app. However, that cycle cannot be modified, and it defaults to only 30 minutes. More time cannot be added. If you try to add more time, the cycle will revert to "Normal" or "Timed Dry", with fully automatic temperature settings.
So on my fancy machine in 2025, the only way that I can dry with no heat for 2 hours is to
download an app and make an account
give the app "precise location" permissions
download a new cycle
enable "Keep Remote Start On" via settings
sit here tapping "Start" every half hour.
In contrast to simply turning a temperature dial, and then a time dial.
It is infuriating to know that this machine obviously is capable of supporting any custom combination of settings, but that no custom cycles are actually allowed. The entire machine is nearly bricked by butt-fuck awful software design.
The fact that temperature, of all things, cannot be controlled by the user, who paid for and owns the machine, is absurd.
Honestly, how in the hell did this UI pass testing?
