BE CAREFUL BUYING AN LG FRIDGE...2024-2025
Sorry you're going through that. Having the same problems with Frigidaire/Electrolux. Bought a fancy French door model in June and the compressor went out in October. That took about four weeks to fix. It went out again on December 27th and the repair place is now waiting on a part. My next fridge is going to be the cheapest, most stripped down model I can find so I can just replace it rather than lose another $600 in food waiting for a repair. More on reddit.com

r/appliancerepair on Reddit: 2.5 year old LG French door fridge not cooling
October 20, 2023 -
This is our 3rd fridge in 9 years.
The same thing happened 2.5 years ago.
Our LG French door fridge with bottom freezer stopped cooling yesterday. The Smart Diagnosis says there are no codes. We emptied it, unplugged and flipped the breaker and then plugged it back in and left it for 13+ hours. Temp went up 11 degrees inside the fridge.
Repair people can't come out for more than a week and charge $150 just to diagnose the problem.
Do we wait or do we buy yet another fridge and take advantage of black Friday deals?
Anything else we could try?

LG warrants their compressors for 10 years and their labor for repairs for 5 years. LG French door refrigerators had a class action lawsuit against them for failing compressors. Ours failed just like yours did at 3 years. Call LG and they will send someone out to replace the compressor if it's defective (and it likely is). It shouldn't cost you anything. The number will be on the label inside the refrigerator near the top shelf, right side. According to the tech, the new compressors are not more reliable than the failing ones so you might get another 3-5 years out of it after it's repaired. We are fortunate to have an old Amana in the garage for a backup. It's going on 30 years without failure. No more LG for me (Samsung is equally unreliable).
