I'm in the market for a counter depth refrigerator under 2k I'd like a bottom freezer but don't necessarily need it to be french door. I don't want any frills (thanks to the advice of Bens Appliances and Junk) - no need for a water dispenser, wifi, etc. The most spacious option I've found is the LG Counter Depth MAX. However, I know that LG has had major compressor issues and I don't want to even consider this fridge unless they have fixed their linear compressor.

The LG counter depth max fridges do not have the troublesome linear compressor at all. They use a standard reciprocating compressor, although it's still inverter driven. I have more confidence in the quality of these models but they're too new to make any final calls. Buy at your own risk, But at least it's not a linear compressor.

Our LG frig was not very old and linear compressor went bad. They only went to send you the free part, but the labor is way more almost the cost of a new refrigerator… And then other parts have to be changed out when they put the new linear compressor in an LG doesn’t cover that I am so disappointed with LG refrigerators in LG products I will never buy LG again
