I recently purchased the 55-inch LG C4 TV for my bedroom, and I must say, I'm underwhelmed. As someone who upgraded from a 2017 Samsung MU8000 to a 65-inch TCL QM8 last year, I was blown away by the TCL's performance. I purchased the QM8 for $900 from Amazon and it exceeded my expectation. Over the last 12 month, I been told by many that OLED TVs are game charger and my next TV should be an OLED. So, when I got a bonus check this year, I decided to try an OLED TV for my bed room, expecting a significant upgrade.
However, after using the LG C4 for a month, I'm not convinced it's worth the hype. The first thing I noticed was how much dimmer it is compared to my TCL QM8. This is a significant drawback, as certain content simply looks better on a TV with high brightness(Nature documentaries for example).
While the LG C4 does excel in terms of color accuracy, pure blacks, viewing angles and contrast ratio, the TCL QM8 holds its own in these areas. Moreover, the TCL's blooming is barely noticeable, and it cost significantly less money.
Overall, I'd say the LG C4 is a good TV, but it's not the game-changer I expected. If you're looking for a TV with exceptional picture quality and value for money, you might want to consider high end Mini-LEDs. Especially if you do not want to deal with burn-in.
Holding out for a decent price over this Black Friday price.
For usual TV and Film use in the living room… eventually for gaming use in the living room once I persuade my partner it’s a good idea or if we break up (lol).
One thing I’m worried about is glare - is this an issue with the reflective screen?
Is the green tint issue an actual problem that you’d notice on day to day usage or is this just a problem for the TV nerds?
I recently bought an 86” LG UR8000 for my living room and used for a couple of months. It wasn’t too bad, not too good. Now I’m returning it, spending some money and buying a 77” OLED C4 along with an LG s95TR sound bar home theatre system. Is it a good buy? I normally like gaming and watching films and sport.
