I'm curious if anyone knows what embroidery file type Lids (Canada) is using currently. I went to a local Lids today with a DST and EMB file, but the (very apologetic) staff member could not get either to open on their machine's software. After double checking their FAQ page, all they divulge is that DST is not a supported format. I'm using Wilcom, so I can export as many different formats, but the staff member wasn't sure which one was correct. I suppose I could just export them all, but any info is appreciated, thanks!
Edit: Lids confirmed they do use Tajima and .DST files. Why the .dst Wilcom exported did not work remains a mystery.

Per the LIDS FAQ, they only accept PNG and JPG https://customlids.com/pages/faq "Can I Use My Own Logo? Yes! If you already have a logo that you would like to use in your customization project, you can upload it through our customization tool. After selecting the hats for your project, you can upload your logo or browse our library of images and fonts to add text and make your caps unique. Please note: There is a standard set-up fee of $25 on orders of less than 24 hats. Suggested file types are PNG and JPEG. We don't currently support .DST files. You warrant and represent to CustomLids that Purchaser (you) are lawfully entitled to reproduce and embroider the logos, text and any trademarks used in the material ordered and has full authority to authorize CustomLids to reproduce and copy such logos and material. Purchaser shall indemnify and hold harmless CustomLids from any and all loss, cost, expense and damages of any and all manner of claims, demands, actions, and proceedings that may be instituted against CustomLids on grounds alleging that said embroidering violates any copyright or any proprietary right of any person. Any order containing a trademarked logo will be refunded to the customer, with the opportunity for the customer to submit another order to include logos that are NOT TRADEMARKED. Please refer to our FAQ for additional details."

Tajima only read dst files they probably just don’t want to accept it, that way you can pay for the digitizing or set up fee like someone mentioned. DST is a Tajima format and they don’t have another one that I know of, now maybe they don’t have Tajima but I doubt that as far as I know lids only uses Tajima, but all other commercial machines read dst files except home embroidery machines like brother and baby lock.

October 22, 2025 - Do not buy any custom made products from this company. I designed a hat, and when it showed up, the font was much smaller that the proof that I approved, and they refused to re-make it or refund me.
