I'm not sure standing out at a professional networking event by being very colourful is the best way, but then I don't know what kind of event this is. Don't wear a black tie regardless. That's for funerals and ska bands. If you want to look a little different, try a nice light blue shirt and a yellow or orange trunk tie (not neon coloured, mind you). If you want to be slightly more conservative, go with a white or eggshell coloured shirt and a burgundy silk tie. With both, you can try brown or black belt/shoes and see which matches the best.

Neither of these are suits I’d pick. Three piece in olive is an odd move, and olive tends to be better in cavalry twill, linen, cotton… “fun suits” basically. The lapel on the olive one is also neither here nor there. The grey suit has some terrible design choices, including the piping and the too narrow lapel. Are you new to buying suits? If so, go easy on yourself. Buy a navy blue two piece, barchetta chest pocket, patch pockets, unconstructed shoulders, don’t go for contrasting buttons or lining. Keep it simple, keep it versatile. The last two looks are great, green pairs well with neutrals and earth tones. I personally don’t like that blue shirt in the first pic at all, though. Blue plus dark green is too saturated, it takes it into kids cartoon territory for me. I would stick with white shirt and khakis, but opt for ties and pocket squares of gold or orange or red for contrast. Not bright Christmas red, but brick red or wine red. Brown leather accessories. Thinking on it, plaid shirts almost always have a few threads of green as part of the pattern. You might pairing it with any plaids you have to see if they go together. More on reddit.com
