Lightning does not provide enough bandwidth to transfer 4K through it. Furthermore Lightning does not natively support outputting the HDMI a signal so the adapter uses some kind of AirPlay protocol with H264 encoding and hardware logic in the adapter to output you a HDMI signal. I'm stuck away from home and my laptop broke so I can only use my phone to access my media files and streaming services.
The wifi here is really spotty so I thought I could get a lightning to hdmi cable but there's not much info on their quality.
Apple sells a lightning to HDMI adapter but it's limited to 1080p? seems crazy when iphones with lightning port can shoot in 4k? and hdmi cables of 4k or higher are ubiquitous and cheap.
Does anyone know why this is? is there any certified 3rd party manufacturers that make higher resolution/bitrate solutions for playing from iphone 12 pro to a tv with HDMI ports? casting is not an option due to terrible wifi here. I'd be downloading files completely before watching.
Any other subs worth asking in? the only audio visual sub I could find is exclusively for commercial users.
