r/IBM on Reddit: IBM to Kyndryl

Anybody know of any IBMers who moved to Kyndryl post-hard spin? Would it be crazy to go by choice as opposed to as part of the spin off? I assume the answer may depend on the role?

Kyndryl is chopping headcount like it's their job. Lots of their contracts were always unprofitable and only made sense as part of a larger agreement between IBM and the customer. The profit would be made on the services/consulting/product side of the house and the hosting in IBM data centers would be rolled into the contract for a song. When IBM spun out Kyndryl, all of that unprofitable work went with Kyndryl and to actual value stayed in IBM. That's why Kyndryl has been cutting unprofitable contracts, laying people off, and closing data centers.

I moved to Kyndryl last November by choice after 17 years at IBM. It was a good decision. Better pay, less administrative burden and things are still forming so you can change things, try stuff etc. People are making decisions, not just waiting for the 99th approval which enables you to open a ticket for approvals.
