There’s quite a few, but they are by no means essential. The Phoenix Project as an introduction; The DevOps Handbook as a deeper, more technical dive of what you see in Phoenix Project; Eliahu Goldratt’s The Goal, which is the primary inspiration for the Phoenix project; Eliahu Goldratt’s Theory of Constraints, which is the foundational theory from which DevOps is derived. DevOps is basically the Theory of Constraints applied to IT. Beyond those, I also recommend O’Reilly’s Site Reliability Engineering, which goes into the SRE side of things, though I’d still recommend it to anyone that is interested in DevOps; Normal Accidents, which goes deeper into the theory of how complex systems fail. I have been giving a talk lately about this very topic. I've opened sourced it as a result of there not being an awesome list that's up to date: https://github.com/chris-short/DevOps-README.md
