What are people saying about grocery in Chicago, IL?
"Aldi is a great place to get inexpensive groceries. I love that they are nearby me. They are great to stop by for essential items. They don't have everything and you might not be able to get all your groceries here, but the prices make up for this. Generally service is fine, I don't interact with employees often but when I do they are always helpful and kind. Ambiance is nothing special."

I have been searching grocery and personal care prices item by item to compare Kroger to Meijer (this are my only real options). Has anyone found a quicker way they would be willing to share? I could go to Aldi as well. I have looked at some apps to download but most seem pretty sketchy about info gathering or what they actually do. Having to keep typing to meet the 300 character limit so please pardon the run on sentence.
My bank had a year review of what we spent on groceries last year (which includes household products like detergent and toilet paper when looking at my purchases). I found that my partner and I spend on average $630 per month. Mind you, we maybe spend $100/month eating out, which is rare. And I spend about another $50/month on coffee shops. Yes, I buy expensive coffee and I don’t care.
Just curious, what do other chicagoans in 2 person households spend on groceries?
Edit: I forgot to mention hosting 1-2 small gatherings with friends. We provide food I make and drinks so this accommodates for that too.
I should add that we exclusively shop at Costco and Aldi, with jewel nearby for the odds and ends. Our dog food is not included in this pricing. His alone is another $200/month, but that’s because we buy him ridiculously boujee food.
