Go to settings and search for "permissions manager". Here you can select location and see what apps have permissions for location (you can choose to show system apps too). Here it should show a time when the app last accessed the location service too, so you should be able to tell from this. You can also try searching for "permission usage" in settings. If you have this, you can see more detailed information on when location was used and by which apps. Answer from lostinmygarden on reddit.com

r/Android on Reddit: How do you manage Location on your Android device?
August 6, 2017 -

As one often does when excited about a new phone, I've been spending some time optimising my OnePlus 5 to perform at its best and get the most out of it. While at it, I made a couple of Tasker profiles to help me manage my Location settings, including one that turns off location entirely when I'm ready for bed and leaves a notification I can tap when I wake up, to switch back to Battery Saving location mode. I also made one to switch to High Accuracy (and turn off WiFi) when I'm ready to leave the house, and one to toggle back to Battery Saving (and turn on WiFi) when I get home. I've set these all up to be one-tap, easily accessible task buttons in my pie launcher (LMT) and also on a home screen page in Nova.

Turning off location entirely has its consequences, as does leaving it in High Accuracy mode, and I was wondering what other people do about location on a daily basis. Do you just leave it in High Accuracy all the time and forget about it? Or turn it on when you actively need to use it in say Google Maps, but manually turn it off after you're done? Or some elaborate automation?
