I’m planning on dropping some dough on a lodge Dutch oven and want to know if it is worth the money and holds up well over time. Has anyone had one and can speak on the quality? Thank you.

For the price point, Lodge is about the best quality you can get. Most people who want a dutch oven but don't want to go all in and risk ruining a $300 Le Creuset or Staub usually go with a Lodge. I hear their customer services is good, too. Definitely go for a Lodge, but get the size and shape that makes the most sense to you... I know some people who buy or are gifted dutch ovens and they never use them because they bought a ludicrously large size, or they accidentally bought the bread oven, or they only want to use pots that can be dishwashed, etc... I suggest starting with a 4.5 or 6 quart DO (with a lid) and seeing how much you like using it. You can even start with one that has no enamel if you're worried about scratching it.

Lodge all the way. I have an enameled cast iron Dutch oven, which was a replacement for one that lasted a decade. (It was ruined because of something stupid I did, not because of a default.) If I were an influencer, it would be for lodge enameled cast iron Dutch ovens specifically. Probably why I’m not an influencer.

In my experience the Lodge Dutch oven’s enamel finish doesn’t hold up to high heat and will crack and fall off over time. Not worth it.

I like the price point and the design, but the first one I bought had a chip in the lid's enamel, and the one I exchanged it for has a small but deep scratch in the bottom of the pan. Am I cursed, or is that just the brand?

That's one reason why Staub and Le Creuset (and Riess for Carbon Steel) is so expensive - better enamel, usually two layers, less likely to break off more durable. With the cheaper stuff you need to look very carefully until you find a flawless one. QC is the first thing the cheap brands save money on. But if you find one, they work very well for many years.
