Hi Brendan,
I am Dave, an Independent Advisor, I will help you with this.
Windows 10 Hello Facial Recognition is more secure than most of the facial recognition technologies used on devices these days and it requires a webcam with Infrared capability.
I checked the specs of the Logitech HD pro webcam c920 webcam and it does not have Infrared capability and so, it is not compatible with Windows 10 Hello Facial Recognition.

Hi Brendan,
Sorry, I was offline, there is no official list as such, but if you Google Windows 10 Hello Compatible Webcam, you will find many lists online.
Hello,
I've got the new AMD Ryzen 7950x3d on a Windows 11 Pro 22H2 desktop. I have had the C920 for the longest time on my previous computer, and it was working fine on this one. However all of a sudden when I opened zoom, I noticed it was freezing, so I went into logitech capture and noticed no video was coming out. I tried a bunch of things. Putting it into another USB. Updating the firmware, reinstalling the software, uninstalling zoom. Nothing seemed to work, so I assumed it had seen its last legs, so I decided to upgrade to the Brio Windows Hello 4k Webcam.
Same issue with this, Tried it on multiple ports.
Does not work in any other situation. In Windows hello, the camera is detected, and starts the process with the IR blaster going through rapid red blinks. However the camera never turns on.
I've reinstalled drivers, restarted the computer, tried different ports to no avail. I even created a new user account, to see if that would work, nope, still not working.
I've plugged into into a different USB port and it doesnt' make a difference (they are all USB 3.0)
I've never seen this happen and am utterly confused. This is also a fairly fresh install of Windows 11 Pro.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. How do I get my webcam to work.
Now I just tried it and went into cameras and settings, and clicked on bluetooth and devices and on camera, and all of a sudden the camera turned on. However when I go to Windows hello it won't work. If I go onto anythin but the defualt logitech page it won't work. If I go to the part of logitech where I can edit the effects I get the message, the camera is being usined by another app.
I've gone onto permissions and the camera has all the permissions it needs. Everythign has been enabled and there has been no difference. I'm baffled by this issue, and would appreciate a solution.
I tried the registry trick HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Media Foundation\PlatformIf
And now the camera app from Windows is finally opening, and the camera shows video. However I go back to logitune and the camera isn't showing.
When I go to windows hello, the ir blinks red but no video shows up.
I'm. utteraly confused why this is happening. I even did an SFC check and it didn't find any issues. I really don't want to do a fresh install of Windows given that this is a 2 week new installation so things should be good to go.
Any solutions for this please would be greatly appreciated. I have already posted this on the Microsoft forums and they weren't really able to help apart from the things I already tried.
On logitune I'll often see the message that the camera is being used by another app even though I know it's not.
Thanks so much!
