Why are short headlines important in Google Ads?
Short headlines grab attention quickly and fit within Google Ads' character limits. This makes your headlines fully visible and impactful without being cut off. Thus, people click your headlines, which will make a powerful impression.
What role does urgency play in writing Google Ads headlines?
Urgency creates a sense of immediacy and call to action. It persuades users to take action quickly before an opportunity expires. Hence increasing your click-through rates and conversions.
Why is it important to test and optimize Google Ads headlines?
Testing allows you to identify which headlines resonate best with your audience. While optimization allows you to maximize the effectiveness of your Google ad campaigns.
Hi, I have a question about ad headlines in Google Ads. I'm entering the same text for both the Long headlines and Descriptions sections. How does Google match these?
For example, headline-long headline or headline-description?
I wanted to ask your thoughts on this. Thanks!
I just saw this in Google search results - the first "Sponsored" result was shown like this:
"10 Amazon Repricer Tools to Choose From to Stay Competitive"
How?
My first thought - maybe pinned headline 1 & 2, and Google decided not to use "-" or "|", but no - you cannot split that sentence to have >30 and >30 characters ... "Choose From to Stay Competitive" is 31;
Smart campaigns do this?
Try yourself - search for "amazon repricer" - maybe you'll get the same result
Hey r/googleads community!
So, I was analysing an upcoming auction we'll be competing in and discovered a perfect example of how NOT to write Google Ads headlines. Thought I'd share what I found plus the proven headline strategies that actually work.
First, let me show you this competitor's headline disaster I spotted in the wild:
They're using all headlines that Google recommends (rookie mistake). Because of this, Google selected these 3 painfully generic "benefits" to display:
"Increase Productivity"
"Save Time"
"Work Smarter"
These headlines are so generic they could literally apply to:
Any random to-do list app
Every project management tool ever
Actually... any software product on the planet 😅
Sure, they mention it's a practice management tool in the description... but who reads descriptions? Nobody. Users skim ads in seconds looking for relevant headlines.
How to Write Google Ads Headlines That Actually Convert:
After years of testing and optimizing campaigns, here's how to write headlines that drive clicks and conversions:
- Be ultra-specific about your solution
Example: "Sales Pipeline Analytics for SaaS Teams"
- Include industry-specific benefits that directly address pain points
Example: "Reduce Sales Cycle Length by 40%"
- Add social proof elements that build immediate trust
Example: "Trusted by 10,000+ B2B Sales Teams"
Using these headline writing principles, we've consistently cut cost per lead, boosted CTR by significant margins, and generated qualified leads that actually convert into paying customers.
Well, that's all. I hope it helps newbie B2B SaaS founders nail the bidding war lol.
