I received a Lovesac email that includes a 35% off promo for an in-store quote. The email mentions tariff price increases August 4th and includes the following statement: "This is the best pricing we will have for the rest of the year, even better than our Labor Day or Black Friday sale!"
I wasn't expecting to purchase a 4 seat, 5 side sactional until around Black Friday. What does the community think about this if now will be the cheapest? Is it FOMO pricing or will there be similar sales around November/December that offset the tariff increases? Any idea how impactful the tariffs will be?
When i bought our sactional last Wednesday I asked the salesperson if he expected prices to go due to up due to tariffs since they are made in China and other countries. He said that they had just received an email from corporate that day saying that prices on custom fabrics were going up immediately (unless you already have a quote-they will honor it) and regular fabrics the first week of May. So if you are on the fence buy it now!
Please let me begin this post by saying that this is not a hate post: this post is about being blown away by current prices. 10 years ago I bough a movie sac bundled with a sport cover for 230 dollars. It’s been the best piece of furniture we have ever had and I’m quite happy with it. Today a friend of mine finally moved to a bigger place and asked about my “bean bag, how much she loves it whenever she comes to visit and how she wants to get one” and I kindly told her “it’s not a bean bag it’s a love sac, and I paid around 230 dollars, bear in mind it was 10 years ago it must have gone up in price” a few hours later she replies with “2000 + dollars? Did you buy it used? No way it costs that much and you paid 200 usd” I could not believe her so I visited the page and to my surprise, she was right. What happened? I mean; like I said we love our movie sac but I’m not sure it’s worth 2000+ dollars Is it a different movie sac from the one I bought 10 years ago? Was the company sold and someone revamped it and jacked up the prices? Really curious on why the price difference
Thanks
I was pricing a couch last week during the 10-25% off sale and today with the weekend sale, and the non sale price has increased. This feels kinda scummy if they do this? Has anyone tracked for longer to know how often they change component prices?
We tried lovesacs in a store, thought it was reasonably comfy, and liked the modular concept/accessories/customizability. But the quote we got for a configuration we put together in the store seemed just absurd. ($6k+ for a mini sectional with recliner, including 30% "discount", plus tax.)
I don't get it. I went to another store in the same neighborhood that sells fully custom made sofas, built locally, for about the same price or less. Lovesac comfort is good but not exceptional, about the same as our ~$1k sofa we bought from Macy's a few years ago. The recliner seems nifty, but not particularly ergonomic (try out any recliner in a store that specializes in back wellness and you'll know what I mean). The modularity is cool, but seems the resulting mass production of identical base pieces should drive prices down, not up.
So overall it seems they have built a brand that lets them overcharge folks for basic things, sort of like Peloton perhaps. Or am I missing something else?
I’ve tried to price this thing out to seat 8. No matter which way I slice it…. Around $10k
So my question to all of you current owners especially those a year or more in, do you feel like you get that value out of it?
Quite honestly I can buy a super nice $3k sectional every two years and change the style for the same price.
Went to the store sat in it.. being 6’5” it’s super comfortable…. But is it $10k comfortable?
