Long post for the Stealth Tech owners and future buyers.
Back story: I’m a Sonos guy. Have had their sub, Beam, and two Sonos ones for a couple years. No complaints with Sonos. It’s always worked and the sub is great and love that it’s all wireless.
However, when I saw stealthtech I was very intrigued. Loved the concept. I bought the 8 speaker stealthtech set up. $3575 plus tax (25% off)
Well it’s been about a couple weeks now since I got it up and running and here are my thoughts.
THE BAD: The sub is sub par. Pun intended. It’s just not impressive at all. Yes you can feel it. But it doesn’t fill the room, not even close. It’s not movie theatre status. The phone chargers are meh. And take forever to charge and they have to be positioned perfectly in order to work. If you have a case on your phone it’s even worse.
THE GOOD: The sides and speakers are considered a part of their lifetime warranty. Which is cool. The speakers themselves along with the sound bar sound good, not the best. But definitely no complaints. It does give you that immersive feeling. And lastly. It’s all hidden. It also allows you to connect another sub. Which if you want decent bass. It’ll be necessary. And it can also connect to a SONOs system via the sonos port.
So here are my overall thoughts and ideas and things I wish I have known and thought of BEFORE I purchased.
Truly consider whether or not it’s worth “upgrading” from your current system. Used audio equipment is a tough sale.
If this is your first surround sound system and you don’t have a current system this is more so for you. I don’t think it’s truly worth the money much less replacing any somewhat decent system in your home unless you REALLY want to hide all the speakers. AKA it’s more asthetically pleasing than anything.
What would it need for me to love it. Honestly. It needs a sub. And I bought one. A SVS PB1000. Which is a very solid entry level subwoofer at the price of $799. But it’s a top of the line audio manufacture.
Alternative suggestions - I’m not impressed with it much compared to my current SONOs system. Which is Bluetooth mind you. So no wires. Aka it’s not worth the cost. SONOS I would say is a better alternative. And for the same money you can get legitimate high quality surround sound. If you’re ok with seeing speakers. A very popular audio brand is SVS. They are too dawgs in the market and you can easily get an incredible sound system for less money than stealth tech.
4.5 something I realized is that sactional seats are hollow. So you can fit a sub underneath the seat the SONOs sub fits perfectly. and there are many others on the market that I’m sure will fit as well. BOOM hidden sub.
5. Cost comparison- Stealth tech $3575 (plus another sub for decent bass). SONOs you’re looking at $2075 (quality sound bar, sub, and two surround sound speakers not including their 15% military discount)- only extra speakers compared to the stealthtech would be the two satellite speakers. Which again are Bluetooth. The sub can fit under the seat. IMO the Sonos is a much better audio platform.
So for me personally. I already own a Sonos set. But I have the Beam. The sound bar that comes with stealthtech is significantly better than the Sonos Beam. I also have three extra sides. So no big deal there. I’m gonna chalk this one up as a no brainer and start the return process. Not to mention. Used audio equipment is hard to sell. Unfortunately I threw away all my boxes. Sorry LoveSac.
All in all. If I choose to return stealth tech, purchase a new side for $350 (I’ll need it) and purchase purchase a new “comparable” sound bar $800 and an addition Sonos sub $750 ( cause two subs is better than 1) I’ll still be saving almost $2k.
Final thoughts: if you are in the market for a couch AND a hidden surround sound. Or you have an open floor plan with no available outlets This may be for you.
If you want top quality sound and or you are looking to upgrade your current sactional. It’s not worth it. I would look elsewhere. You can get a lot more bang for your buck. And then you don’t have to worry about the hassle of selling your old sides.
I do love my lovesoft couch tho!
Hope this helps some folks.
