OK, so you want aggressive plants native to your zone, that probably don't look too "weedy," right? What's the sunlight and soil moisture? In general, you want to fill up the bare soil thoroughly. Any empty space invites weeds. I'd put in a selection of more showy perennials, then super low-growing perennials like violets in between, and then sprinkle the dirt with seeds of annuals like partridge pea or columbine. If you don't want to do the seeds, a good layer of mulch around the plants (but not touching them) works too. In terms of your showy perennials, black eyed susans and echinacea are classics for a reason. I have a mix of anise hyssop and beardtongue that I really like, for a more white/purple look-- they both stay nicely upright, too. Mountain mint is great for pollinators, but it's not as obviously a "flower." Goldenrod and asters are great, but they can look a little weedy if there's nothing in front of them-- the bottom leaves start to look pretty dead and grody by midsummer. If you get your flowers from a big box store, heads up that some cultivars (anything with a brand name in 'quotes') aren't nearly as good for the ecosystem. Anything that changes the flower shape/color or leaf color is just confusing to insects. Answer from spicy-mustard- on reddit.com

The Best Vegetables to Grow in Raised Beds: 10 Delicious Choices
I’ve been a raised bed gardener for over two decades and the main reason is because they require far less work than my former in-ground garden. It didn’t take me long to realize that my raised beds also help me grow crops that used to struggle when I planted them in my native clay soil.

Beginner Gardening:Suggestions for perennials in raised beds
I could go on and on, Steph but as I dont know anything about your raised bed other than it is in full sun, I dont want to confuse things. you might want to add a few low growing shrubs or plants like ground covers, also as all these flowers will leave the bed bare in winter you might not want that.

r/NativePlantGardening on Reddit: Low maintenance garden beds?
May 8, 2024 -
I'm in southeast MI. The previous owners of my house created garden beds. I despise garden beds because they just turn into a weedy mess. I mow the lawn and grass starts to grow in the beds
After I get rid of the weeds, what can I plant that outcompetes weeds and grass? I don't wanna have to weed or do much to the garden beds. Just mow the lawn. Maybe trim plants once or twice a year
