Hello! I’ve been looking for a gaming keyboard for my desk. Any recommendations, suggestions, or opinions are welcome. Thank you very much! :)
📌Minimal Requirements
Budget: Around $200 USD (give or take)
Full RGB support
White keyboard (for my desk color palette)
At least 65%, but TKL or 100% will be my best option
Linear or tactile switch + the quieter the better (I have other people living in the house)
USB-C port for charging/connecting
Low profile! (duh)
✨Extra Preference
Hot swappable switches/keys are a plus
Weight doesn’t matter, it will be sitting on my desk 24/7
Shine-through keycaps are a plus
Primarily used for gaming, but great typing experience is a HUGE plus
Having 1000Hz polling rate or more is a plus
Wired/wireless doesn’t matter, but wireless is more preferred
Mechanical keys preferred
🤔 My Current Options
Logitech G915 X Lightspeed TKL
ASUS Falchion RX Low Profile
Logitech G515 Lightspeed TKL
💻 (Extra Info) My Experience With Keebs
Quite new to mechanical keyboards / custom keyboards
Frequent laptop/apple keys user, switching to low profile keys after 9 months of high profile use (don’t like arm/wrist rests as well)
Relatively light typist, does a lot of typing/translation work
Causal gamer, plays various games from FPS to RPGs
Familiar with linear switches (silent ones too), don’t prefer clicky noise
Interested in using tactile switch (never used one before)
Small hands, short arms
If there are also cheap alternatives that can be used with white shine-through keycaps, I’m also open for those options. I also don’t mind all the little bells and whistles (knobs, buttons etc.) as long as it fits all the preferences that are listed above.
Thanks again for your time and I look forward to hear your opinions about it! :)
I'm in the process of creating my first setup for gaming and can't decide what kind of keyboard to get. Im on a tight budget and dont want to spend more than $75 on a keyboard. Does anyone have a suggestion on whether i should get a Regular Mechanical or Low Profile keyboard. Ill be using this keyboard to game about 99% of the time and playing games like Call of Duty and Fortnite. I know regular mechanical keyboards are very popular but im hesitant becasue I'm new to keyboard gaming and not sure how I would like the big bulky keys, thats why Im thinking about a more compact keyboard. Im not even sure if low profile keyboards are even good for competitive gaems like COD and frotnite. I just need some opinions. The only keyboards Ive ever used are laptop keyboards which are much different than mechanical keyboards so I just have no idea. Feel free to ask me any questions. Thanks

I've been in the market for a new low profile mechanical keyboard. Years back I had the Logitech G815 and liked it for what it was. Switches were okay, keycaps were meh. I ended up selling it as I wanted something smaller from a full keyboard.
I recently bought the Logitech G515 in tactile and have been using it for 2 weeks now. I like the form factor, the switches, the updated keycaps to PBT. However, there has already been a double clicking problem that has developed on the space bar. I believe I read about that issue before buying it too unfortunately. It happens both in the wireless adapter mode and bluetooth. While it doesn't happen all the time. it's annoying enough that I'm considering returning it and searching for something else.
It was tough for me to choose between the Logitech G915X, Razer Deathstalker v2 pro, or the one I ended up going with the Logitech G515. While I do like the TKL format, some other keyboards I was considering is the NuPhy Air75 v2 and the Lofree Flow 84.
I currently also have a Logitech MX Mini and Keychron Q1 that I was looking to sell to consolidate into one keyboard to use for gaming (windows) and work (mac).
Anyone have any recommendations or advice on how to best proceed?
Edit: I went with the Iquinix mq80 and have really enjoyed it thus far!
I'm used to low keys on a laptop and want something similar for gaming on a Windows PC. RTINGS recommends the NuPhy Air75 V2. Any suggestions?
I've had a mechanical keyboard for quite a while now, but there was always something about it that bothered me compared to the cheapo membrane keyboard that my parents own: The height of the keys making me have to lift my fingers more than I'd like to.
But I've recently found out that something like a "low profile" mechanical keyboard exists, which seems to be exactly what I need. However, I have trouble finding the right low-profile keyboard.
I would like a keyboard that matches these requirements (roughly in order of importance):
Low profile
A full keyboard with all the keys, including the TenKeys, like this, ideally with this spacing
Mechanical or HE doesn't matter too much to me, as long as it's linear
Backlit, but I don't mind if it's RGB or just white
I don't care about any lighting profiles; in fact, I'd rather not have to install auxiliary software
I also don't care about any clicky-clacky sounds and would want the keyboard as silent as possible
Preferably black or at least a dark color
Media and/or sound volume keys are not required, but would be nice
Preferably a price below €300
I've been looking for a while, but my searches are surprisingly coming up short. I'm admittedly somewhat of a noob when it comes to keyboards, so maybe I just don't know where to look or what exactly to look for
If anyone could help me out with some recommendations, I'd really appreciate it!
Hi All,
I'm struggling to find a 100% low profile mechanical keyboard that isn't made by Keychron. I would prefer to avoid them if possible after reading all of the support horror stories.
The only other keyboard which I have found that seems to be an option is the Lowfree flow 100 which sadly doesn't come in a uk layout.
What I'm looking for:
Must:
Be full sized UK layout Function wired
Nice to have: Hot swappable key switches Replaceable cable Backlight
Many thanks for taking the time to read this post!
I'm a programmer interested in getting a new keyboard. I want to consider low-profile options like the Keychron K3 Pro.
I've seen comments and reviews suggesting that they are great for typing.
Previous discussions about low-profile keyboards focused on their lack of customizability. I'm not interested in modding, so this is not a huge deal to me.
But I think those discussions kind of ended with that point. Are there any other reasons not to go for low-profile keyboards?
Hi all! I am looking to get a new keyboard for myself. It's hard for me to use mechanical keyboards because I play with long acrylic nails lol. So I tend to use a low profile, or flat keyboard. I don't know what decent ones are on the market. I don't mind the size, and I would love if it came in a light color (white, pink, purple... etc) but if the good ones are in black that is fine too. My budget is $120 or less (: Thank you all!
So I mostly play games like Rocket League and sometimes Fortnite, where fast finger gliding is really important.
I’ve been using laptop keyboards for years (on various high-end laptops), and I finally decided to try a “real” mechanical keyboard. I picked up a entry level Razer BlackWidow V3 TKL (accidentally got green switches instead of yellow), and… it was a disaster. 🥴
Here’s what I found frustrating:
The long, deep press travel on traditional switches is tiring.
Finger gliding (which I heavily rely on) is just not feasible.
On laptop keyboards, I could easily use one finger to control 2 nearby keys like W+S or Q+A. I’d just slide between them without needing to lift my finger at all.
But on this mechanical keyboard, it’s more like:
press → lift → glide → press again— which kills the flow.
So my question is:
Why are low-profile keyboards so rare in gaming, even though traditional mechanical switches don’t offer the same glide speed or comfort for fast-paced inputs?
I get that it might just be my personal preference, but I’m wondering if anyone else here feels the same — or has made the switch back to low-profile or laptop-style keyboards for gaming?
Would love to hear your thoughts or suggestions. 🙏
(please suggest me some great low profile keebs, idc abt modding and stuff...yet)
Hey
I don't have much knowledge in the keyboard world so I was looking for some suggestions.
Currently I am using the HP GK100F and honestly it sucks. the keys are way too loud and tall and it just gets in the way of my hands so I'm looking for something softer and rather low profile not like laptop keys but shorter than the basic gaming mechanical keyboards.
I've been eyeing the Logitech G815 but I've heard mixed opinions about it.
So do you guys have any suggestions on a good quality low profile keyboard that gives me a better experience.
also not a big fan of 60% keyboards so 100% would be ideal and I don't care if its wired or not.
Hey everyone. I have been looking for a keyboard for a while now and have still not found one that suits my preferences. I prefer a number pad for my workflow, but the keyboard drawer on my desk isn't wide enough to fit a full size keyboard. I have been able to get away with using 96% keyboards, but my options are limited. I also prefer low-profile keyboards, which reduces my options even further.
Right now I am looking for an analog keyboard. I have heard great things about Wooting, but the only keyboard I'd be able to get is the Wooting 80HE. It has no number pad nor is it low profile, but rapid trigger would be great for gaming. Alternatively, I found the Nuphy Air96 V2, which has the number pad and the low-profile that I am looking for, but I am not sure if it has rapid trigger or if it is good for gaming. I am currently using a Glorious GMMK2 where I swapped the keys with some generic low profile keys from Amazon, but it's still a nightmare to type on.
Maybe I should bite the bullet and go for the 80HE, but the price point is also more than I have ever spent on a keyboard before, especially for one that does not have a number pad. I am also open to any other suggestions. Thanks.
Looking for a competitive-ish gaming keyboard, longterm use. Preferably ANSI, 100% or TKL. I would like it to be wired, with low profile and short travel distance for each key activation. Keyboard sound and clickiness is the least important thing for me, idc if it sounds good, however I do not want a super loud keyboard. I would prefer my keyboard to be quiet. Budget is 100$ but I would like to find options within the 60$-80$ range too. Thanks bunches.
I am looking for a low profile wireless mechanical gaming keyboard. I am looking for something that ticks most boxes
-
wireless
-
low latency
-
75%ish
-
Hot swappable
-
great switches preferably tactile
-
great looks
I don't really care about RGB or price. I have been rexommended Keychron very often, but they seem to be connected with Bluetooth only. Logitech G915 TKL sounds also great but is surprisingly old.
Any more good recommendations?
Youre asking a lot from a keyboard that isnt on the more custom side. Keychron would be a good place to start. A lot of bigger brands are just now starting to support hotswap. Low profile if you want low profile switches and keys will also limit you both in switch options and keycap options later. Im trying to remember some other good brands off the top of my head but I know a lot of keyboards have the option for bluetooth and dongle wireless.
The G915 being old shouldn't really be a concern for you. While the whims and preferences of the high end mechanical keyboard enthusiast world seems to change every few months, a lot of the actual keyboard hardware hasn't appreciably changed in literally over 40 years. Low profile mechanical switches are much newer, only showing up in the last 5 years or so, but they're mostly based on the existing technology, and they themselves haven't changed that much since they were introduced. The main thing that changed is all of the major patents have run out and now lots of people are making them. So if the G915 TKL does it for you, get that.
However, the G915 isn't hot swappable. Most low profile mechanical keyboards aren't, except the Keychrons, and Nuphy Air keyboards. But both have relatively high latency (>20ms over bluetooth, >10 for the Nuphy over 2.4Ghz). If you want a low profile mechanical keyboard wireless keyboard with extremely low latency, get the G915. If you must have hot swappable switches and don't have bluetooth, get the Nuphy.
Do you prefer normal or low profile mechanical keychron keyboards? And why?
I am overhauling my setup after like 13 years, and Im possibly looking for a new low profile keyboard for my production/gaming needs. Until this point I have always used my Razer Deathstalker with its chiclet keys. I have always enjoyed this keyboard due to its low keys because I often stuff it in my backpack for travel and I would worry about any other keyboards keycaps in its position if the keys werent so low. The only issue Ive had with it is its width, it just barely fits in the back compartment of my backpack, so I was thinking of getting a smaller one. I would think about getting one without a keypad, but I need a keypad for some of my production things.
After 13 years of this keyboard, is there another more modern keyboard like it that is more space efficient?
Browsing this sub and some youtube channels that talk about ergo keyboards, I see tons of low profile builds, which is a big contrast to r/mk where you see very few.
I can think of a few reasons why people focusing on ergonomics might choose a low profile keyboard but I've never actually used a low profile ergo board so I'm curious to hear from you, the people that made that decision! What drew you to a low profile build? How does it affect the ergonomics of the keyboard?
Right now I'm using a Ducky2 with browns. It's a beautiful keyboard, but
A) I want to get these wires out of my life
B) I don't like having to use a wrist rest. I used to have the logitech solar keyboard, it was flat enough I didn't need anything. I wouldn't be able to do that with my ducky.
In terms of what I'm looking for
A) I do some gaming. Not a ton, but I do play some Dota2 and Age of Empires 2, and I don't want to lose keystrokes because of a weak signal. Yes I know wired is the best...but can wireless be good enough and do I need a dongle or bluetooth?
B) Would mechanical low profile keys be as flat as the thin chiclet keyboards out there? I'm amenable to optical chiclet keys as well, being able to drop the wrist rest is more important than having pretty keys (though I do appreciate nice keycaps)
C) An aluminum frame seems nice? I don't know, probably not that important, but is a nice to have.
D) Bonus points if it comes w/ a mouse and they can use the same charger, but I imagine I'll be buying that seperately
It seems most good keyboards are truly better and more comfortable to type on, but the thick cases and keycaps simply feel outdated unless you use a wrist pad or adjust your desk/chair to make hover-arm typing truly comfortable.
It seems most people who use tall keyboards simply resort to bending their wrists or use wrist pads, and the ones who truly "hover-arm" use both adjustable chairs and desks to make it happen. This just makes low-profile keyboards seem objectively better. Any thoughts?
