I'm looking into doing a short-run of in-wall wiring for my surround rears – basically run speaker wire from my receiver along the baseboard of my room and then go in wall from a wall plate up to where the speaker will be mounted. I was looking at these wall plates from Monoprice and in the description it says:
**Requires low voltage mounting bracket - not included**
Why is the mounting bracket required? Is it for convenience or safety reasons? Is it possible to use the plate without the bracket (assuming I use properly CL2 rated wire)?
I ask because I'm renting an apartment, so there's a big difference in terms of repair work I'll have to do when moving out between drilling a few smaller holes vs. taking out a hunk of drywall.
Thank you for the help!
