Low-maintenance indoor plants that are safe for cats?
Spider plants are supposed to be safe for cats, but I've read that they can cause stomach upset if the cat eats a lot of them. So it depends on if your cat just likes nibbling or if they're actually trying to go vegan. More on reddit.com

Is there a list of low light, pet safe plants?
I have three cats and all my plants are safe. However they are all bright direct or bright indirect light plants. I don't have low light plants safe for cats as I find growing them too difficult and time consuming. Anyway what comes to my mind: all true ferns Saintpaulia Maranta Calathea Aspidistra elatior Phalaenopsis Pellonia pulchra Chlorophytum comosum some varieties of peperomia. some varieties of fittonia Mind that low light means at least 200 foot candles. All plants I mentioned are not toxic for cats. If your apartment is really dark you will need some strong led bulbs or grow lights. Some plants on the list will survive low light but they will not thrive. More on reddit.com

Pet-friendly Beginner Plants

Peperomias, Hoyas, Nerve Plants, & Spider Plants, are pet safe and beginner friendly! Calatheas are also pet friendly but they’re fussy and hard to take care of, at least for me. Maintenance is plant specific so it depends on what you get. Just don’t overwater them/neglect them too much and you’ll be okay.

I only purchased pet friendly plants in the beginning of my plant journey but realized they didn’t really make me happy and I let them all die except for 2. Now I just buy plants I want and keep them away from my doggo in a curio cabinet and in my bathroom where she can’t get to them. Though she hasn’t shown much curiosity for my plants I like to be safe anyways because you just never know!

Hi everyone I know you guys are probably tired of beginner friendly posts and I am so sorry to be making another one. I just wanted to know what beginner friendly plants are also pet safe.

Here is some more info about my house so you all might have good recommendations/advice: I have cats and dogs, my boyfriends keep the house around 68° Fahrenheit, and it is pretty humid where I live so our humidity is usually around 68% for the average.

r/plants on Reddit: Low-maintenance indoor plants that are safe for cats?
December 19, 2023 -

Hi all! I was living with family members prior to this past August and had a beloved pothos and monstera, but upon moving out and acquiring cats--one who bites everything she sees--I had to leave my pothos and monstera behind when I moved and I still miss them dearly.

Would anyone have recommendations for plants that are relatively easy to take care of and are cat-safe? I loved my pothos for its several-foot-long hang from its hanging pot and would ideally love to find another hanging plant.

I'm not super experienced with owning plants (hence the desire for something easy to take care of haha), but if it helps I'm located in the greater Seattle area if that gives anyone an idea of the humidity, and all my windows in my apartment face south.
