"Cheap" tiles often have things about them that make them less expensive other than their durability. The pattern repeat could be very small or non existent, the tiles aren't square, the tiles are warped, there are allowed glaze imperfections, there is color variation in the same lot, the actual visual looks fuzzy and not defined, the colors are just "off' having weird hues in them. None of these means they won't last years and years of looking like a cheap tile. Some things like out of square, warped make installing them and having the grout joints look good an absolute nightmare and all the money saved on the product becomes a labor expense. Take a few tiles place them on a granite counter top that's level but all the joints together at lease 2-3 long and 4 pieces wide and you'll see quick of it's square, if you start playing with lining it up then it's going to be 100x worse on the install if you don't plant for it, spacers need to be wedge style and you need a bunch of snapped lines to follow because you cannot trust the tiles. Hey every thing could be great and they could be near perfect, but I bet they are not. Doesn't mean they won't last and they won't look good at the end of the day. I've installed some tiles like that and everyone loved how it looked. But it took way longer than it should have and I recognized the issues before it was an issue. r/Flooring on Reddit: Thoughts on Lowe’s Tile?
July 17, 2024 -

Does anyone have experience with this specific tile from Lowe’s? It seems pretty cheap compared to similar looking products from other manufacturers. Also if you’ve ordered tile from Lowe’s, how was your experience?

Bought Lowe’s wood look porcelain tile a few years ago. Tiled my entire 1500 sq. house. Corners chip easily.. wish I shopped elsewhere or put vinyl plank instead. Just my experience.

Can Lowe’s Cut Tiles For You?
Stalking you from another post you made about not grouting tile to give you much needed advice from someone who works for a tile contractor: you really need to hire a professional tiler or if you must DIY do luxury vinyl plank which is much, much easier to install, waterproof, and appropriate for all areas of the home. I can tell from the questions you're asking that you really, really don't know what you're doing and this project of doing all your floors in tile that you can't cut and don't want to grout is not going to go well for you. It's going to be very, very bad. This is as nicely as I can put it. More on reddit.com

r/Tile on Reddit: Is Lowes Allen & Roth bad tile.
March 9, 2025 -

I have a professional tile guy that wants me to use his tile person. He says the stuff from Lowe's is poor quality. Is it really that bad? I can't find the color tile that I want at the one that he wants to use.

Thanks all

What is the difference between Home Depot and Lowe's when it comes to large format porcelain tiling? Which one is better for home remodel projects? - Quora
Answer: Both chains carry tiles from various manufacturers under independent labels, or under proprietary labels made by independent manufacturers. So whichever store you buy the tile from will make no difference; the quality of the tile itself will. The biggest difference is in the type of tile...

Tile Stores vs. Lowes/Home Depot
Can I just explore HD and Lowes or bad move? Note: we in Central NJ and this will be in high-traffic foyer and new kitchenn(we have lots of active kids around here!). Thanks! ... Well that may be true in some cases, but not true for most real PROS in our experience. We "steer" clients to specialy stores that we have experience with because we trust the quality of the product and service. We do not get a "commission". We do generally purchase the tile with our trade discount and split that discount with the client (that practice varies by contractor).
