What the hell? I swear I checked the old list before I bought my PSU and it was low A tier. Now it was low C tier. I feel betrayed. Or I'm an idiot. Am I fucked? Edit: I've been hardcore tripping! My psu is the thermaltake GF1 750W. It's A tier. I checked for thermaltake GF 750W. That one is C. I am an idiot! But at least I've got a great psu :D Answer from Doristos on reddit.com

July 27, 2023 - I have a Ryzen 5800X on a Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master and recently I got an Asrock RX 7900 XT "Phantom Gaming OC". It's a slightly factory OCed version that requires a 750W PSU to run. January 3, 2025 - No need to worry about component quality; all tier-D components are of exceptional high grade and boast some of the industryโ€™s most reputable names. PSU that is designated as Bronze medium delivers as well as high performance; nevertheless, if you are seeking for an alternative that is favourable to your wallet, LTT PSU Tier E will operate averagely for you.

PSU Tier List - PCPartPicker
You can easily measure how good a CPU or GPU is by it's FPS and can be completely blind as to how they actually work but there is no singular metric like that for PSU's. Instead you have like 20 different things that are all complex topics. The cultist tier list does try to avoid all of this by grouping things into tiers but you have to complete blind trust in them for it to work successful but imo no one should have that for them or really anyone.

September 13, 2024 - Has anyone else used this site or any other tier lists when shopping for a PSU? For those who rely on tier lists, how much weight do you give them compared to other factors like specific features or brand preferences when making your final decision? ... Well, the one on LTT used to do it based on price of PSU, which is hardly useful The cultist one used to be on Tom's Hardware, but they had a breakdown in communication there I don't use them myself, I tend to just buy from good brands like Seasonic and Corsair.

What your doing is good! But the thing about Jonny`s site is they use the same equipment to test PSU!! On every PSU!! IMO it makes a difference! No it does not invalidate what you do so much as it just can lead to errors@! as much as i respect Jon, Okla and Tazz, their testing is good, but it's limited then again, they're fortunately not the only one doing testing and errors can always happen, that's why i'm trying to be as open as possible to suggestions. unfortunately limiting myself to a single reviewer isn't one i'm currently open to

You`ve heard the saying I am sure that you need to budget accordingly before you purchase the rest of your equipment! You don`t build your machine and then decide you only have $30 dollars for a PSU! When instead of purchasing that cutting egde video card or cutting edge processor you could have purchased something not quite cutting edge and had money for good psu! India is a place where electronics are more expensive to buy there than elsewhere. They are a developing country and thus running out of budget is precisely a problem there. Their electrical infrastructure is far more flaky, and their codes reflective of a place that can't afford protection...at least one person in Hyderabad died from water and a washing machine because it wasn't grounded.... Here in the U.S now, the rural residents are relatively well-off landowners with access to many amenities, well water notwithstanding. In India, the rural residents are living in far more brutal life. Ebay still has sub-30 dollar Rosewill Capstone 450W modular units, XFX PSUs that use Seasonics, and Seasonics of yesteryear. Between the choice of a new Coolmax or these old reliables, the choice is clearly favorable to the EBay used units of quality.

No, but if I were to convert it to Indonesian Currency IDR it would be Rp 1,2 million at max and my comfortable range would be in the Rp 900 thousand or less https://www.tokopedia.com/ is where we'd buy parts online in Indonesia 650W, Tier B, Seasonic Core GM-650, link: https://www.tokopedia.com/enterkomputer/psu-seasonic-core-gold-gm-650-650w-modular-80-gold-psu-650w 650W unit isn't enough for RTX 3070. 850W would be enough. 850W, Tier A, Seasonic Focus GX-850, link: https://www.tokopedia.com/itkelapagading/psu-seasonic-focus-gold-gx-850-fx-850-850w-full-modular-psu-850w Btw are you sure 850W for a 3070 isn't overkill? I'm certain the watt difference between a 1060 and 3070 doesn't warrant the 300W extra on the PSU This, over provisioning with wattage, is due to GPU transient power spikes. What are transient power spikes? A video to watch: View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wnRyyCsuHFQ Meaning that a RTX 3070, which is 220W GPU, can easily pull 2-3 times more power, for milliseconds. E.g ~600W or so. And when your PSU can not cope with that, e.g you have 550W unit, PC will shut down. Hence why i suggest 850W unit for RTX 3070.

That unit comes with a 30 day warranty. That, i actually didn't see. My Indonesian isn't that great. It's EOL since Q1 2017 so it's lying on the shelf somewhere for almost 6 years. True, but compared to used (abused) PSUs, this unused PSU, is still far better choice. And it is also better than newer crap sold today. First; I'm not a citizen of the USA. One doesn't need to be citizen of a country, to support it. E.g i don't have Ukrainian citizenship, but that doesn't mean i don't support Ukraine. Second; I give independed PSU recommandations based on proper reviews, self investigation, budget and availablity and not a fanboy of any brand at all. Yet, you're annoyed by everyone else, who's opinion differs from yours. This is 2nd topic of late, where we're having this discussion of PSUs. For PSU discussions, this topic here is better suited for that, link: https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/psu-recommendations-and-power-supply-discussion-thread-toms-hardware.3212332/ Third; the most recent Tierlist does include EOL PSUs, your beloved brand for example, the S12II/M12II Like i said, that "latest" is biased. Sure, it does include the old S12II and M12II EVO units, but classifies them as "Avoid", with poor excuse of "have or had UVP issues". While the source linked doesn't include none of the S12II / M12II EVO units. Instead, source consists of Cooler Master, Cougar, XFX and Zalman units. And while you could argue that XFX TX500 is made by Seasonic, well, no. It is designed by Seasonic, but made by Hydance. S12II / M12II EVO units are not equal to XFX TX500 unit, which this biased site is happily applying to Seasonic S12II / M12II EVO units.

r/LinusTechTips on Reddit: Is this PSU tier list legit?
June 18, 2022 -

I am building a NAS, and I am deciding which PSU to buy. Someone recommended me to check out Linus PSU tier list. I googled it up, and this came up first in the results:

https://cultists.network/140/psu-tier-list/

It has higher (more recent) revision number (16) then the list on Linus's website:

https://linustechtips.com/topic/1116640-psu-tier-list-rev-148/

Are those guys related to Linus and/or are legit and trustworthy, or is it a grab for affiliate money?

Also, which PSU is least likely to fry my HDDs with precious data? ๐Ÿ˜ณ

Thanks
