So when looking at memory foam toppers the best metric to measure quality will be the density. Not to be confused with firmness, for memory foam its density and firmness are not necessarily related. You will want to consider the feedback on firmness to try to match your own personal needs. This can be difficult because there are all sorts of body types and preferences out there, so for every topper that exists there will be people saying its too firm, and people saying its too soft. Generally speaking the heavier you are the firmer you need, as you will bottom through a topper that is too soft and it will actually provide insufficient pressure relief. Some vendors will tell you the firmness, the vendors I like will tell you its ILD, which is a metric to measure the compression for comparison of firmness. But for most youre stuck sifting through reviews and trying to get a feel for how often people say its too soft, vs too firm, and making a judgement based on that. Not easy when no one is telling you their weight and sleep position. With all that blabbering out of the way. Youre already looking a 2 very popular affordable options. Both are around 2lb density memory foam which is on the low side. There are cheaper toppers made by companies like Linenspa, but they will be even worse quality than what you are looking at. One that offers a slightly better value is This Amazon Basics gel topper which is about 2.5lb density memory foam for $75. So mediocre quality for a good price, not a terrible deal. January 17, 2024Lucid: Gel memory foam 4” mattress topper
I’ve had the same topper for a few years, maybe three, and yes is is very thick. But didn’t plump up over 4 inches. I’m able to fit both my mattress and topper in my mattress protector. Barely fits because the topper is so thick. Haven’t had any problems except that I’m not heavy enough for the thickness so I kind of just float on the topper lol. More on reddit.com

I am wanting to buy a mattress topper. I am debating between the brands Lucid or Sleep innovation. Mainly because of price!
Has anyone ever used these before? What was your experience? Or does anyone have any affordable recommendations?

I’ve never tried either of those brands. But I can recommend mattress toppers from Sleep365. Their toppers are GOTS-certified organic, safe, and non-toxic. You can pick wool or latex, so you can get whichever works best for maintaining your body temperature. I live in a hot climate, so I have the latex one, and I love it. The outer cover is washable too, which is a big help for me since my dog likes to hang out on the bed, and occasionally, he’s messy.

What the hell!? I just got my mattress topper from Amazon today and found not only a dried up dead fly, other unidentifiable dead insects, but LIVE BED BUGS! I had to throw away an expensive bed sheet then sprayed my entire bed down with permethrin.
Lucid shouldn't be in business!

LUCID SHOULD NOT BE IN BUSINESS! Their foam is the cheapest quality and their positive reviews must all be fake! Everything the negative reviews say are all TRUE! I made the mistake of purchasing a 4” topper as a temp fix for a mattress and had to throw the thing in the trash! I don’t weigh much and even still the foam would develop a giant “sink hole” where your mid section is and if you get up and come back 5 min later the indent is still there! It’s the lowest density, zero recovery foam and I even contacted them to inquire about the ILD rating and the supposed 3 year warranty (as no info came in the box) and was treated horribly by their customer service, basically told “we don’t give that information”. If I had a dog I wouldn’t even cut this up and make into a dog bed, just complete garbage!!! Amazon and companies like Home Depot are generally easy to work with and will refund you and hopefully at some point will drop this company as a vendor. I am on a mission to put Lucid out of business and warn everyone not to purchase anything from this company!!! Cheap memory foam is exactly what it is…. CHEAP! But this is next level. Unless you enjoy sleeping in a jack knifed position and causing permanent damage to your spine, well in that case just buy a hammock and sleep in that, it would be better than anything Lucid sells.
