You forgot to mention that the original MA-1 had a blaze orange lining, so it could be turned inside out for visibility if a pilot went down, and that the pocket on the sleeve was designed to hold a pack of cigarettes. I'm working on an AFB now, and I've been hoping to find an old original MA-1, but the chances are very slim. I did find a surplus store that was selling modern repros, but they were a bit overpriced. If I were going to get a repro, I'd prefer one of the slimmer fitting ones. Either way, I'll almost definitely end up with one this fall. More on reddit.com

This Alpha Industries jacket is a classic for a reason and very tough. I used to have a jacket that I learned was a knock-off of this from Superdry. I loved it but I had to get rid off it because the sleeves were too tight. Did some research recently and found out the original version has a much more practical cut so I bought it. Of course after buying it I almost immediately ate it and spiked both my elbows into the pavement but there is not a mark on the sleeves where it happened. So I can vouch for its toughness, unlike the Superdry where a similar incident ripped the sleeve off. It is the perfect warmth for most weather and waterproof. I immediately removed the silly tag on the sleeve but otherwise there is no obtrusive branding.
