I’m looking for possibly formatting my HDD to APFS. What performs better in day-to-day use?
APFS is very optimised for flash storage and I think it would performe worse than MacOS Extended on HDDs.

If this is for an external HDD, you could test it yourself. Here’s an app that will help: https://www.katsurashareware.com/amorphousdiskmark/ BlackMagic is a popular tool, but it doesn’t test random read/write.
