Mac OS Monterey (12) no longer supported after the 12.7.6 update? | MacRumors Forums
Is macOS Monterey 12.7.6 still good for i… - Apple Community

Hi All: I searched the sub-reddit for an answer to this, but couldn't find anything.
My main setup (in the upstairs office) is a Macbook Air M1 connected to an external monitor. My daughter just gave me her old Macbook Air early 2015 with 4gb RAM. It's in great shape and I want to use it for light web browsing, basically like a Chromebook. AFAIK, I can't use OCLP because of the 4gb ram. I know I can update to Mint Linux (like I did with my old Thinkpad) but I want to evaluate the risks of just sticking with Monterey (I know it won't be receiving any more security updates).
How do I keep the security of the laptop safe? If I don't go to any sketchy websites, can my laptop still be compromised? Can viruses/malware be propagated to the other Apple devices in my house (I doubt it, but just want to ask)? What if I just create a Monterey install USB and wipe the laptop if I pick up malware?
If you are unable to upgrade your version of Mac OS the last version of Office that will work on MacOS Monterrey is 16.88, that is available on the table on this link to all the downloadable versions from the Microsoft servers.
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/officeupdates/update-history-office-for-mac
On macOS Monterey 12.7.6, Microsoft 365 apps are supported only up to Office for Mac version 16.88/16.88.1 (and, per later guidance, 16.89 dated September 10, 2024). Newer builds require macOS Sonoma or later and will not install.
To get Microsoft 365 working on macOS 12.7.6:
- Make sure there is a valid Microsoft 365 or Office 2021/2024 license associated with the account. A current license is required to activate the older build.
- Download an older Office for Mac build that supports Monterey (for example, 16.88 or 16.89) from the Office for Mac update history page listed in the context:
- Use the long table of downloadable versions on the update history page to select version 16.88 (or 16.89) for Office for Mac.
- Install the downloaded package on macOS Monterey 12.7.6.
- After installation, open any Office app and sign in with the licensed Microsoft account to activate.
- Run Help > Check for Updates once to move to the final supported build for Monterey (for example, 16.88.1 for Outlook and PowerPoint). AutoUpdate does not need to remain enabled because there will be no further updates for Monterey beyond that version.
If upgrading macOS to Sonoma or later becomes possible, newer Microsoft 365 builds can then be installed and updated normally.

Use Xcode cloud.
If your code is on Github, you can connect it with Xcode Cloud. This way, you can have it auto-build your ipa and add it to TestFlight or make it ready for the App Store, as far as I know. I use it for TestFlight but I think it's just a matter of configuring it for App Store release.
Currently you get 25 hours free build time per month. That should be plenty for a small team and 1 app.
Depending on how old your computer is, you could update to MacOS 13 with the help of Open Core Legacy Patcher
Of course running xcode 15 on osx 12 would be a better solution but I'm still looking for the answer.
