How to install macOS Monterey on Mac Air M1 2020
can I download macOS Monterey on Macbook air 2017?
I've put Ventura on a 2012 MacBook pro, worked flawlessly.
Opencore legacy patcher is your solution.
Be careful, if not done right, can damage the hard drive/ssd
More on reddit.comi started to download monterey files on my mac, and now i cant find those files
I have a mid-2015 MBP that according to this site https://www.macworld.com/article/673697/what-version-of-macos-can-my-mac-run.html can be upgraded as far as Monterey.
I've held this back because I have a few audio creation tools that need x32 compatibility, which as I understand was removed entirely after Mojave. I see the need though to keep an updated machine, at least to the extent possible, so I upgraded the drive to one twice as large and partitioned it down the middle. My intention was to restore from backup to each partition and upgrade the new second install as far as it would go, and when I need to use those older tools just boot to Mojave but everyday-drive Monterey for the more robust security. I have a few questions about this though.

Where can I obtain the needed upgrade media? It's no longer in the App Store, but from what I understand Apple keeps downloads links out there, I'm just having trouble finding it.

Does it make sense instead to upgrade in a stepwise manner, that is to Catalina, then Big Sur, etc. until I max out or is it safe to go ahead and jump up to Monterey?

How reliable is Legacy Updater if I try to take it further?
Appreciate your feedback.
