Before I give any details, I fully recognise that there’s certain security measures that can’t and shouldn’t be worked around - obviously this type of question looks a bit suspicious and I expect you all to tell me what I already know, I just have to check.

Essentially, my partner was allowed to keep an old 2020 Macbook Air (M1) from her work because she was being made redundant. However, the device has an iCloud account on it from one of my partners old managers, who set the device up. Now we own it full time we would like to clear all these details off but obviously we don’t have the password.

This is where the issue lies. This old manager is literally impossible to reach. She has deleted all her social media accounts and won’t even answer calls or texts. Meanwhile the work is super poorly managed and they don’t have any purchase history or receipts. So we aren’t able to delete the account with the password or take it to Apple directly to have it wiped since we don’t have proof of purchase.

Do we have any options at all or are we just forced to live with this now?

I was at a governmental auction and I bought a MacBook pro 2018, this device was lost by someone and because the person didn’t reclaim his device it was sold at this governmental auction. I have a receipt from the governmental auction and data erasure report issued by Blanco.

What would you recommend is the best way to remove the Apple activation lock from this device.

Because all the data was wiped off it. I need to install a new operation system. I installed Ventura 13 when I removed the activation lock. I want to put this MacBook on Linux because I need it for my computer science studies, my main notebook was like 2 kg because I also use it for gaming and electricity consumption is too high to take it for educational purposes
