You can try shutting the Mac down first, and then holding the power button until you’re brought to “Startup Options.” Once there, click on “Options” and you should start booting into macOS recovery. If you are lucky, you don’t need a password to get into recovery. Once in recovery, up towards the Menu Bar, click on Utilities > Terminal to open a terminal window.
