I do not understand this quest for thinness · Trouble is they reduced the screen size and resolution while going from 15 to 16 they did not improve resolution. So you are effectively buying 14" resolution More on news.ycombinator.com

When's the redesign coming? - MacBook Air
I can't see them doing a redesign until they equip the Air with an OLED display in 2027/28. Until then, I can't see the MBA getting a major redesign. Perhaps the strongly rumoured MacBook Pro refresh in 2026 will give an idea on what to expect. More on forums.macrumors.com

When's the redesign coming? - MacBook Air
May 17, 2025 - It seems that the Pro redesign is coming with the M6, so I'd expect the M5 to be the Air redesign. I don't think Apple would do both at the same time. My guess is that the C1/C2 will go to the Pro first, and not come to the Air until M7.

r/macbookpro on Reddit: Thinking of buying a MacBook… but rumors about a late-2026 version are messing with my head. Worth waiting?
November 24, 2025 -

Hey everyone,

I’m in the market for a new MacBook and was pretty much ready to buy… until I started seeing all these rumors about a bigger refresh coming in late 2026. Now I’m stuck in that classic “do I buy now or wait?” loop.

A little about my usage: I mostly need it for day-to-day stuff, some trading dashboards, coding, and occasional light video editing. I’m not doing anything super GPU-heavy. Good battery life and portability matter to me.

What’s making me consider buying now: • The current M-series Macs are already crazy fast for what I need. • MacBook Air/Pro designs are stable right now no weird glitches from a first-gen redesign. • I could actually use the machine right now instead of waiting another year+.

What’s making me hesitate: • Rumors say 2026 models might have bigger upgrades — new displays (maybe OLED), possible design changes, maybe touch features. • I don’t want to buy now and then feel like I missed out on something major a year later. • But also… Apple rumors are always a thing, and then half of them get delayed anyway.

So I’m torn. Part of me feels like the M3/M4 machines are already more than enough, and waiting for “the next big thing” is a never-ending cycle. But the other part of me wonders if 2026 might actually be worth holding off for.

If you were in my shoes, what would you do? Buy now and enjoy it? Or wait and hope the 2026 rumors pan out?
