Hey all. I'm looking to get another Macbook for work (coming from an Intel MBP). Was wondering if I should wait for the M5 Pro/Max vs. getting the base M5? I mainly do video editing, web development, and other process heavy applications and projects. Would appreciate any feedback or recommendations. Thank you

The main differentiator between the max and the base/pro is its strength in video encoding. If that is your main use case you would probably be better off getting a M4 max over a base M5.

Honestly, I think the annual chip cycle is too much for the consumer and creates confusion in the marketplace. If they switched to a 18 month or 2 year cycle, it would be easier for most consumers. Whether Apple thinks the competition will allow that is a different story though. Every company seems to be making their own chips these days.
