14-Inch vs. 16-Inch MacBook Pro Buyer's Guide 2024 - MacRumors
November 8, 2024 - Both the 14-inch and 16-inch models are equally upgradeable to the M4 Max chip with a 16-core CPU and 40-core GPU, but if you are looking to spend as little as possible or do not need a high level of performance for intense workflows the 14-inch ‌MacBook Pro‌ is also available with the standard M4 chip. The M4 offers a more balanced processor with more of a focus on efficiency to prolong battery life, which will be more appropriate for users with less demanding requirements. Buyers should be aware that the M4 chip is limited to 120GB/s memory bandwidth, 32GB of memory, 2TB storage, and supports just two external displays.

February 11, 2024 -

I start a new job in July and I need to bring my own laptop (at my current job I have a company MacBook). My old MacBook is around 10 years old, so it’s time for an upgrade.

Timing used to be important on Apple products. Is there a better time between now and July? Any anticipated sales? Or is all of that moot now?

r/mac on Reddit: Buying guide MacBook
August 17, 2024 -

Hi everyone

Thinking about upgrading my old Windows laptop and getting MacBook

I am an online teacher and educational course creator and editor (that was successfully edited on my iPhone, that’s why I want something more powerful). Was thinking between M2A 16/512 vs M3A 16/512 vs M2pro 10 core, 16/512 and M3 pro 11-core, GPU 14 core, 18GB/512GB

At my local store prices for options above are:

M2A — 1400$

M2pro — 1700$

M3A — 1500$

M3 pro — 1900$

I am not a professional videographer and not running huge projects, but still I would like to have some potential for future video editing opportunities and creation of 2D animations for educational purposes

I really would like to hear from experienced people as I don’t want to waste money on unnecessary functions and at the same time I won’t have something underperforming

TIA
