iPad Pro 2021: The New Magic Keyboard’s Sly Little Detail
November 12, 2024 - If you upgraded to the iPad Pro 12.9in model last year, but fancy the brilliant new edition with its miniLED display, you might have hoped that the near-identically sized new tablet would slide into the keyboard you splashed out on before. The new bigger iPad Pro is thicker than last time, though. Only by half a millimeter—half a millimeter!—so, surely, it won’t be a problem. Well, that perfect precision of fit mentioned above comes into play here. ForbesiPad Pro 2021: Revealed, The Biggest iPad Upgrade EverBy · Even though the thickness is marginal, it is enough to mean that the new iPad Pro 12.9, though fitting in place when the Magic Keyboard is open, won’t close perfectly.

r/ipad on Reddit: My Review of the Magic Keyboard after 1 week of usage
January 25, 2025 -

First and foremost, I don’t like how YouTubers always promote the iPad Pro’s. I personally use an iPad Air M2 13” 256GB, which is more than enough power for me personally. I’ll be honest, I never saw why it Apple would make a Magic Keyboard for the iPad, as I always thought it was just a flex to be real with you. (Okay, I’ll admit I was a hater😂), then after buying one luckily brand new sealed at a significant discount, I now see why people say you can potentially use this in a laptop-like way, I’ve been primarily using this setup mainly the whole week intentionally with my full time job and studies, it really did the wonders for me. I feel less distracted than using my MacBook to be quite frank and felt I was way more productive using this Magic Keyboard with my iPad Air 13”, I personally use it as an alternative laptop just in case if my M1 MacBook Air breaks, god forbid, it really excelled in the experience for me with the iPad. One thing I was really concerned with in the beginning was the battery life as I was scared a full charge wouldn’t last the whole day. Luckily, it does! I take it everywhere with me now more than my MacBook, even to the office, I only go once a week for meetings that mandatory to attend. I do my banking, signing documents is more easier (now just need to get the Apple Pencil, will probably get the Apple Pencil Pro sometime later in the year), sending emails, sending documents from my iCloud Drive from my stuff from my MacBook, making and editing documents to give to new clients. Taking it to meeting to make notes (with the note app) instead of having a diary, it honestly makes my life so much easier, I don’t really care about not having the cellular version of the iPad, as i use my iPhone as hotspot and buy a lot of data monthly, and mainly around WiFi luckily. People are even shocked at the workplace that I am using an iPad to do my work, as they don’t really know what an iPad is capable of. In first world countries in the field I’m in. They mainly use iPads with a Magic Keyboard to do their work as it involves a lot of research/prospecting in properties. The keyboard hasn’t left my iPad ever since. I really wouldn’t consider myself a heavy user, due to the fact I don’t photo edit, video edit, I luckily have a professional photographer who specialises in taking photos of homes before putting it on the market and he is very good at it. Then just stuff for me and then emails the photos.

Apple Magic Keyboard expands M4 iPad Pro to its full potential [Review]
December 27, 2024 - I’ve used dozens of tablet keyboards over the years, and none look as cool as Apple’s Magic Keyboard for iPad. The way the cantilever design makes the screen seem to float over the keyboard — brilliant. I’ve had strangers walk up and ask me where I got it as though it were some mysterious relic. The new version doesn’t fundamentally change the basic design. It just makes it better. The 13-inch M4 iPad Pro I’m using for this review weighs less than its predecessor, and that allowed Apple to move the integrated tablet stand farther back without unbalancing the accessory.

Yes, the old Magic Keyboard works on the 2021 iPad Pro | AppleInsider
May 24, 2021 - Since the 11-inch iPad Pro is the same thickness, due to not using a mini LED backlight, the Magic Keyboard for that model doesn't have the same fit issues. Of the two combinations in question, the 2020 iPad Pro and 2021 Magic Keyboard is the pairing that should work perfectly fine out of the gate.

r/iPadPro on Reddit: Is the new Magic Keyboard that much better compared to the old one?
September 27, 2024 -

I have an 11” M1 and use it most of the time for writing purposes. I have a third party keyboard and it was good enough until I started to use the iPad more than my laptop and realized that I need a better writing/trackpad experience.

I’ve also been debating on getting the a 13” iPad (still not sure if the pro m1, the air m2, or the pro m4 ). I don’t really need the power of the M4 nor care much about the new features , but I’m very interested in the new Magic Keyboard and that alone could be the reason to choose a higher end iPad but only if the experience in the new Magic Keyboard id significantly better than the one on the old Magic Keyboard.

So can you tell me more about the differences in comfort and usability between the old and the new Magic Keyboard? I’m interested in both typing and the trackpad.

Thank you!

May 30, 2020 - Sometimes I prefer that to the Magic Meyboard, and sometimes the magic keyboard over the Pro +. I guess it depends on my mood. Which Magic Keyboard can you use with the 12.9-inch iPad Pro (2021)? | iMore
May 6, 2021 - It is an upgrade in every way from the 2020 model, so it goes without saying that many previous iPad Pro owners will be looking to upgrade. When comparing the size and weight of the 2021 model and the 2020 model, one spec that stands out is that the 2021 model is 0.5mm thicker. Couple that with the fact that the 12.9 inch Magic Keyboard from last year is unavailable and a new model was released, previous iPad Pro owners are rightfully nervous about having to spend $349 for another Magic Keyboard should they decided to upgrade.

Apple Magic Keyboard for iPad review
I've been using the Magic Keyboard for iPad for about three years now, with my iPad Pro (2021), as well as with the newer iPad Air (2022). In that time I've used it for typing, doing daily tasks like browsing the internet, using photo and video editing apps, as well as sketching. Apple's priciest keyboard and cover is certainly sturdy, but is it a bit too solid?
