I recently bought my first mac sort of randomly (macbook pro "13 2018 I believe?). To my surprise there were no usb ports only usb-c which surprised me, (as well as the 10cm charger cable, apple apparently thinks you need to pay 20 bones for the privilege of having a charger which you can actually use), but fair enough they want people to convert to usb-c and I dont really have anything that requires a usb port that I would use with the mac.
However, I also got a magic mouse because of no real reason I just like mice I guess but the magic mouse has a usb port charger?? How on earth does this make sense?

Age difference. The Magic Mouse was released way before Apples “usbC everything” move. Also don’t go buying such an expensive laptop without even knowing what kind of specs it has, that’s a really big mistake

So you bought a mac-book pro without researching what kind of ports it uses? its been at least two years since the Macbook Pro's have gone full USB-C. Normally the Magic Mouse goes together with the Imac which still has USB Ports.

Apple has been transitioning towards using USB-C for charging more and more of its products. However, the Magic Trackpad, Magic Keyboard, and Magic Mouse still use lightning. I initially thought that these products weren't "important" enough to get that upgrade yet, but the Apple TV remote charges with USB-C, so why not the magic accessories?

Most likely, you have the 2015 model. It really doesn't matter whether you use a USB-C or USB-A power adapter to charge this mouse. ... The more recent Magic Mouse 2 have a USB-C to Lightning cable in the box. Older Magic Mouse 2 (like mine) had a USB-A to Lightning cable in the box.

Depending on what generation Mac book pro you have it might be usb-c on the Mac itself.
So you would have to buy an adapter for usb-c to usb and charge it that way.
Second option would be to just charge it with a wall cube like an iPhone charger would use.
