At the store they said this is a magic mouse 3 2021, but as I have searched online its model number: A1657 I could see various websites which say this is a magic mouse 3 others say it's a magic mouse 2 and it confused me. More on discussions.apple.com
User opinions needed: MX Master 3 vs Magic Mouse 2
I used both Mx Master 3 for mac version and the Magic Mouse. I think overall the Master 3 is better for me. Ergonomic and Gesture. Pretty much all gesture from the Magic Mouse can be done on the Mx and even better when the MX can configure some special function on particular app. For ex: Button to mute mic in Teams,zoom etc… horizontal scroll for safari to switch between tabs, and adjust brush size for Pts.
But as you already know there are lots of problem for newer m1 mac, and its the pain in the ass. For me recently I cannot get the special gesture on the Mx to work , their software on M1 is not native so ram and battery issue will come up.
Overall the Mx is better if it can work 100% but Magic mouse is a safer choice if you already used and have no issue with it

Magic Mouse is, IMO, the perfect example of form over function. It looks great and yes it has the bonus of the touch feature support but... I don't think I've never used a more uncomfortable mouse - it's carpal tunnel syndrome waiting to happen. I'd highly recommend investing in the Logitech MX Master 3S or if you want something more compact, try the Logitech MX anywhere 3S. Personally I switch between the MX Master 3S (when I need accurate mouse positioning) and the Magic Trackpad (for browsing - it's great cos it supports the touch controls). More on reddit.com
