Don't believe everything you read on Gartner. I started my own SaaS business a number of years ago and while we were still in development stage, without a working, sellable product, Gartner approached me and said they can ensure my company was placed in a good quadrant depending on the amount of money I would spend with Gartner. As I met people at other startups I spoke to them about Gartner and they also said it was a pay to play scheme. That is my experience with them and may not reflect everyone's experience.
