Because this is the internet I have to preface this by saying I am not some 'taxation is theft' knuckle dragging 'conservative'...but... The excise tax is fucking stupid. You pay sales tax on these things, and that's very expensive. Then you collect basically a bit of sales tax every year based on the MSRP of the car forever! Then they have the inspection sticker every damn year, which is just a scam basically...and gas prices are STILL some of the highest you encounter if you start traveling to other States. And I95 still has tolls! Get fucked. I grew up in MN, which has excellent infrastructure. Our Winters are longer and WAY colder, and our Summers are hotter. Great roads, extremely responsive snow removal, they don't fuck around. No excise tax. No tolls.
