He's supposed to be DJ's husband and her children's father, but the moment Steve and DJ reunite. Steve was always the love of her life, Steve's only focus is being a stalking lunatic trying to get DJ's love back. Not even trying to bond with her children like Matt does.
I was a huge Steve and DJ fan in the original series and was happy about them reuniting but not at the expense of Tommy Fuller Sr.
Pam Katsopolis-Tanner was never treated like this in the original series. Danny never used Vicki to replace her like the way DJ replaced Tommy with Steve.

I mean, the guy had to be married to DJ Tanner. He probably died by choice. (In reality, he was just a plot device to parallel the original series. So they forgot he existed while they focused on pleasing the old school fans by having DJ end up with Steve, not Matt, for nostalgic reasons. Until fans complained for the same reason you did and the writers came up with one episode at the end about Jackson missing him.)

They should have just had Steve be DJ's husband from the get go. Or they could have given them Kimmy and Fernando's storyline of getting divorced and falling in love again. I hated how they did Matt and CJ so dirty. I wish those two ended up marrying each other. Matt and Gia were okay but I always felt really bad for CJ. She deserved better.
