Santiago Peak via Maple Springs
Easy trail. All you need is water, snacks, and grit. ... The drive to the start of this is along the Maple Springs Truck Trail. I would rate the road as beginner/novice level. Clearance suggested, 4WD optional. First 3 miles are paved, next 4 to this parking area are dirt.

Is it wise to drive up to this point on the Maple Springs Truck Trail with my 2004 Camry? I am a hiker wanting to hike to Santiago Peak from this point. How is the road right now?
I wouldn’t if I were you. I offroad there semi- frequently, you’ll either end up stuck or with a flat tire More on reddit.com

Took Silverado road to the Maple Spring Truck Trail then went up Main Divide to Santiago lookout. Very cool ride, took about an hour and a half from the Trailhead to the summit. Lots of other people on the trail, bicyclists, 4x4, hikers, everyone was super nice and courteous though. Snapshot... More on tacoma4g.com

Trail of the Month: Maple Spring Road - Silverado Canyon – Cali Raised LED
December 11, 2024 - My favorite part of this trail is the play area at the end. It’s a good opportunity for anyone that is trying to learn about their rig and what they may be capable of. The play area is totally optional and that’s the beauty of it. You can do it only if you want to. I have only been during Spring, but I have to say that the range, depending on how clear the sky is incredible.

Santiago Peak via Maple Springs Visitor Center
5S01 Indian Truck Trail to Santiago Peak, went down Maple Spring Road. Easy single width road that’s a little overgrown. A full size rig can fit but might get pinstripes along the trail. A few offshoots on 5S01. Trail can be completed in 2HI, a few offshoots will need 4WD. I started this MTB ride at the end of the Maple Springs paved section, which cuts off about 6 miles off your ride. The road was gradual most of the way and easily bikeable, just you have to watch out for cars coming down and up. There were some nice views throughout, and the road through the Airport Fire burn scar was fully

October 18, 2012 - I've done the peak many times and Holy Jim is brutal and not fun to the peak. The main divide part of the climb sucks. Loose, rocky and steep. There are primarily 3 main main ways in the OC; HolyJim, Maple Spring and Harding Truck Trail. Maple Springs is the easiest (IMO), but I personally prefer Harding Truck Trail.
