Marble is quite susceptible to staining, scratching and etching. I would run, not walk away from marble tile in a bathroom (actually anywhere for other than decorative use 😁). It is high maintenance and porcelain is as low maintenance as it gets. Hopefully there will be others with a more balanced perspective on marble. More on reddit.com

A lot of issues with marble have to do with install errors. Use a qualified professional setter or do the research. You need to select adhesives and grout carefully and use correctly to avoid problems. And the stone should be sealed before install for best results. Care is the same for all stone which is absolutely no acid. Ever. Keep it sealed. Don't mix up your own homemade "natural" cleaner with vinegar or lemons. Edit: I just looked at your post image more closely and it does not appear that this is real stone. The description is terazzo which means that this is a manufactured composite tile. It may or may not contain real marble. Terazzo is a traditional floor finish method in which mineral flakes and chips are mixed into a slurry with a curing binder. The mix is floated over a floor surface and cured in place. Followed by grinding and polishing to expose the included mineral at the surface. You should confirm material composition, installation, and care with the tile manufacturer. More on reddit.com

Please change to porcelain. Marble is very difficult to maintain over time especially in a shower. Even with vigilant sealing the marble can and likely will age quickly. Just search marble in the tile subreddit to see how many people ask "Why does my marble tile look like this". More on reddit.com

While there is no visible difference in the appearance of a floor or wall tile that can distinguish the two, the friction level will let you know if a tile is suitable for floor application. Tile COF, which is a friction rating, ranges from 0.3 to 0.6. Tiles with COF of 0.5 or 0.6 are recommended for the floor, but can be applied on walls as well. We are redoing our main floor powder bathroom, the only bathroom on our main living floor. The contractor that we are using is encouraging us to use marble-looking porcelain tile instead of real marble for this main floor powder bath for cost and durability reasons (we have little kids and a dog). Is using REAL MARBLE really problematic for a high traffic bathroom or is it worth the headache? The tile I love most only comes in marble....

Real marble flooring will PERMANENTLY STAIN YELLOW around the toilet in a bathroom regularly used by men. Many bathroom cleaning products are acidic and will attack the marble. You can use sealers regularly to prevent this, but… Likewise for kitchens, lots of things will degrade or stain it. Oil soaks in, cutting citrus without a cutting board will acid-erode it, etc. Marble is for decorative surfaces, not functional surfaces. Like rich people’s kitchens who never cook.
