What is marketing plan & strategy???
Heres what the chemically happy Geminj had to say: Absolutely no judgment here! Let's break down the world of marketing plans and strategies, especially since you're coming from a tech background. Marketing Strategy vs. Marketing Plan Marketing Strategy: Your overall roadmap for how to reach your business goals. It's the 'why' and 'how' you'll connect with potential customers, define your value proposition, and position yourself in the market. Marketing Plan: The 'what' and 'when.' It includes specific tactics, timelines, and budgets for the activities that will execute your marketing strategy. What Your Freelancer Provided Your freelancer has given you a great foundation! Here's a breakdown of what they likely focused on: Marketing Strategy Elements Target audience: Who are the ideal people you want to reach with your product/service Unique value proposition: What makes you stand out from the competition? Message framework: Core messaging points, your brand's voice, and how you communicate value. Marketing mix: Channels you'll use (social media, email, website, paid ads, etc.) SWOT analysis: An examination of your company's Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats. Marketing Plan Elements Retaining customers: Strategies to keep existing customers engaged and loyal. Customer retention program: Specific initiatives (loyalty programs, discounts, etc.). Marketing funnel: Stages of customer journey from awareness to purchase. Marketing strategy: This should likely say "Marketing Tactics" – actual campaigns, content, etc. What Might Be Missing A few essentials to check in with your freelancer about: Goals and Objectives: What are the specific, measurable outcomes you want to achieve with your marketing efforts? Budget: How much can you allocate to these marketing activities? Timeline: Schedule for actions and campaigns. Measurement: How will you track success through specific metrics (website traffic, leads, sales, etc.)? Key Considerations Alignment with Business Goals: Ensure marketing supports your overall business objectives. Competitive Analysis: Understand who you're up against and how to differentiate yourself. Adaptability: Marketing involves testing and refinement. Be prepared to make adjustments based on data and results. It's a Great Start! Your freelancer has provided a strong strategic foundation. Collaborate with them to fill in any missing details, and you'll have a marketing plan to guide successful campaigns. More on reddit.com

Is an outside expert necessary for a marketing plan?

It is not necessary, but because most entrepreneurs are not marketing experts and aren’t always sure where to start when it comes to picking tactics or allocating budget, don’t be afraid to ask for help. Bringing in outside assistance can help you design a truly effective marketing plan.

“While you can do the basics on your own, you may want outside help from somebody who has done this before and can teach you about the costs involved and what to expect,” says Kazim.

How much time should I spent on writing a marketing plan?

If you’re writing your first marketing plan, Kazim says to allow between four to eight weeks to complete the process. After that, you’ll want to update your plan at least once a year, spending a couple of weeks to ensure the plan reflects the changing needs of your business and your customers.

In addition to the previous great comment I would also highly suggest talking about indicators of succesful marketing What are you expecting in a week/month/year? Revenue growth? More users? Etc... Its really important to see that your personal goals are met to indicate success Also you might get CLICKS but the website is not welcoming thus losing customers, its also important to have visibility over those things
