So you can basically take 10 years and stay 600+ nights to achieve lifetime platinum. Or you can just pay $650 for the credit card each year…most, if not all, of the cost being recouped with the free luxury hotel night and other benefits. Makes Platinum way too easy to get and likely why there are infrequent upgrades available.

Last week I received an invitation from American Express, to apply for Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant card.
Does anyone know, if I apply for the card, and never reserve/book at any Marriott hotels, in 10 years of using the card, will I get a Lifetime Platinum status with Marriott?
(assuming lifetime Platinum status still require 10 years of having Platinum status)
In other word, does the Platinum status from that card count toward your lifetime status with Marriott, without the need to spend the 50 nights in Marriott hotels?
UPDATE: my situation: will have the necessary 600 nights requirement by next year, but have 3 years platinum status, 4 by next year. Hence, I am wondering if I can just apply for the card, get the rest of the 6 years left to be a Lifetimer.
