Brilliant is the only reasonable option. $650 annual fee seems steep. But $300 in monthly dining credit reduces to $350. And then with 85k free night cert, it’s so easy to stay at a Ritz or Regis to get double that in value on free night. So, then you’re getting platinum status essentially free. Plus when you pair with the Amex Bonvoy business you get 40 elite nights a year. So it’s really easy to stay 10 nights and get 5 SNAs. Not to mention, 2x on everyday purchases makes it a bomb catch-all card (when paired with another dining/grocery card). I can easily yield better than 1 cpp on redemption at Ritz or Regis. I've been looking into this same card recently. i would say, check the hotels you think you might stay at, many of them will be more than 35k points. there are some other SUBs commonly available I believe, too. there's one for 3 free nights up to 50k a night if you spent 3k in the first 3 months, not sure if you'd be able to hit that, but that's effectively 150k in points vs the 75k SUB you're looking at. there might be a good argument made for just going with like a Chase travel card with a big signup bonus, you might get more out of it and be able to use those points at any hotel in the chase travel portal instead? but I haven't done that math to say for sure, just something to think about.
