Personally have the Triangle World Elite MasterCard, I think it's worth it. I don't use it as a primary card but has been pretty good for purchases at CT owned stores. My local CT has a fantastic garden centre that we buy from annually. Plus, card can be used at stores like Mark's that we do go to from time to time. The killer feature of a CT credit card is the bill pay function. Paying property tax and getting rewards for doing so is amazing. No other way of paying property tax would net you rewards. Lastly, the World Elite MasterCard comes with free roadside assistance, that in itself is also worth it. As for cancelling, well whatever damage to your credit is already done at time of application, so cancelling or not isn't going to make a huge difference unless this card constitutes a large portion of your overall available credit. As for data collected, that's just the standard info for a credit card application, nothing out of the ordinary tbh. Canadian Tire Financial Services is part of Canadian Tire Bank which is owned by Canadian Tire. Store sales are incentivized to sign people up, unfortunately as long as a store has their own credit card, you'll see sales pushing them. This happens at Walmart as well, just say no if you don't want it. Answer from deltatux on reddit.com

Was just signed up for a Canadian Tire Mastercard-- is it worth it or should I just cancel it?

Canadian tire world elite mastercard
The world elite is a no brainer. Get it. Just be aware that the “cash back” is in canadian tire money only. You won’t get real cash back. To do the bill payments you have to use a desktop or laptop computer and go to their website ctfs. It basically looks like a bank account and thats how you pay utility bills and property taxes. Just navigate to manage payee or something to that effect. Pay your bill and wait for that sweet 1% cashback on something you had to pay for anyways. If you dont care for the canadian tire money cash back, you also get free roadside assistance that renews every year. Normally $100, but you get it free with the world elite version only. So if your car dies, get a flat/blown tire, get stuck in a ditch and/or need a tow, need a boost? All free only with world elite version, which is still no annual fee. It’s a super card. Canadian tire triangle mastercard (credit card)
If you can get the Triangle World Elite Mastercard it's better especially if you have a car, as it's also no annual fee and comes with free roadside assistance (as well as slightly better earn rates and whatnot). I keep it pretty much just for that. More on reddit.com

Guide to Maximizing Canadian Tire Triangle Rewards
Great write up. I’m a huge fan of Triangle Rewards. A couple of things I want to add. Regarding the reward multipliers in the Triangle Rewards app. You can swap for rewards to increase the multiplier. For example you may see a 5x multiplier for an item you are interested in buying but you should check to see if there is a 10x or even 20x multiplier you can swap for to increase your reward. Just tap on the ‘Swap Offers’ tab. If you buy something on a regular basis or you’re planning on making a purchase of a particular item add it to your wish list in the Canadian Tire app. You’ll be notified in advance when it goes on sale. r/PersonalFinanceCanada on Reddit: Was just signed up for a Canadian Tire Mastercard-- is it worth it or should I just cancel it?
May 11, 2025 -

So today I went over to Canadian Tire to pick up some batteries when some sales guy there started chatting me up. He started talking about what I thought at first was a rewards card, but the more he went on the more it became apparent that this was an entirely new credit card-- the Canadian Tire Triangle Mastercard. I was a little overwhelmed, especially given how quickly the salesperson was bombarding me with info and asking for my own info, and just stood there saying yes. I'll admit, it is not a moment I'm proud of; I struggle with anxiety, and found myself in a situation where exiting the convo, or saying no, would have at that moment felt incredibly awkward.

Anyway, I've been approved for the card; it may arrive in the mail soonish. However, while I have the digital version of the card, I have NOT used it to purchase anything. Not until I do some research and decide next steps.

So, with regard to those next steps:

  1. Is the Canadian Tire Triangle Card worth it at all? I anticipate I may get some gardening equipment from Canadian Tire soon, but otherwise I have no idea if I may be making any big expenditures from them in the near future. Possibly not.

  2. Can I cancel the card ASAP, or will that negatively affect my credit history?

  3. They collected a lot of my info-- my address, my SIN, my work info, etc etc to see if I was approved for this card. As far as I know, the Canadian Tire Card is a completely legal thing, but all the same, does anything about this feel suspicious to you all?

Thanks in advance.

It's a good card. BUT you should never sign up for something - very much including credit cards - without having researched it and fully understanding it. Practice saying either "no, thank you" with a smile or "I will think about it" because next time you may not get so lucky.
