About 2 hours ago I bought a Mastercard Gift card, the card is activated and has all its funds but any time I go to purchase something the payment declines; I know these sites accept Mastercard Gift cards seeing as I've used them in the past, so I'm just very frustrated. Their customer service seems to consist of a prerecorded bot with no means of actually talking to a real person.

My aunt sent me a 50 dollar Mastercard gift card, everytime I try to check balance or activate the card or manage card on the Mastercard website it says "system error has occurred, please try again later." We tried calling a few times but were put on hold for over an hour and still never got to talk to anyone before the line disconnected. Should I just cut my losses or keep getting hung up on until someone finally answers the phone? Or is there any other way to fix this?? I've never had a real gift card before, just the digital ones that don't require all this mess. Any advice is appreciated!
Hi, so, this is really frusturating me and I'm not sure what to do here. So for Christmas I got a $100 MasterCard gift card. I had about $38 left so I had decided to buy a game on Steam (which was on discount due to the winter sale and was only about $20) However, when I had tried to make the purchase Steam warned me of something like insufficient funds and told me the purchase was declined. So I checked my balance and saw that the exact amount for the game was pending on my gift card balance, and I contacted steam support. Almost a day later, they finally responded and basically just told me to contact the cardholder.. So I contacted the number on the back of the gift card and went through the automated system.. and it gave no choice whatsoever to talk to a representative, even when I tried spamming various keys to see if that would do anything, so that's great. I decided to try the general MasterCard support line, I entered my card number, and it told me I was being transferred, but all I heard was a weird staticky noise on the other end after that and the call suddenly dropped when it reached like 5-6 minutes. I'm kind of at a loss of what to do here. And I think Steam only reserves discounts in your cart for 72 hours, so I need this resolved quickly. But I have no idea who to contact because the gift card line is fucking useless. Help?
Sooooooooo my relatives got me a Mastercard gift card, and I can’t add it to my Apple wallet. Anyone got any tips? By the way I want to make a purchase online.
I recently redeemed a 15$ Mastercard gift card and it's been a pain trying to use it. Anytime I try to use the card it tells me to contact the card issuer. I've tried using it on Amazon, PayPal, and Apple Pay but none worked. This was never a problem before.
Please help!! I purchased a Mastercard gift card at Kroger today and it won't let me activate it. I typed in every number exactly how it says on the card. Something I noticed is that the last 4 numbers on my receipt are different from the last four letters on the card. Can someone help me?
I recently purchased a couple of $200 Mastercard gift cards (I frequently purchase these for my business and usually go to the same location where they know me by now, though once in a while I go to a different location if I'm in the area). One of the gift cards I'm not able to use or check the balance. I call the gift card issuer on the back of the card and they tell me it's not activated so I should go to the store and get it activated. Several questions for my peace of mind (away from home so I won't be able to go to the Staples' I frequent until a few weeks later, which ends up being maybe 1-1.5 months since I've made purchases of the gift cards):
Does this actually happen where the cashier scans the card, I get charged for it, but they forgot to activate it? I would think if a card was scanned and I was charged, it would be activated so this potential for error doesn't happen.
I have a receipt but I'm pretty sure the receipt is not for the card issued because I compared all the serial numbers on the receipt and they none of them match the card. However, I also usually buy Visa instead of Mastercard ones so this receipt could very well be it. I always quickly check the sleeves of the cards to make sure they weren't tampered with. There is the possibility that the cashier is malicious and swaps the scanned card for one of his own (I would say this is a low chance but wouldn't be surprising if they had a customer buying $2000 worth of gift cards every 2-4 weeks). I know for certain what CC I used so Staples would be able to retrieve all receipts from the last few weeks associated with that card, right? Would the surveillance camera be able to go that far to see if a mistake was made in scanning?
Much appreciated. The thought of losing $200 (doubt the gift card issuer can do anything, AFAIK this is between me and Staples) is frustrating.
loaded a decent amount of money onto mastercard gift card a few days ago because I can't get to the bank right now and needed digital money to pay bills. Immediately once I called the card, I called to get it activated and try to connect it to T-Mobile and my Apple wallet, etc. and none of them have work. They all say contact card services or that the card is just denied or not accepted. I went on the MasterCard gift card website to see if I needed to complete any other information and the website won't load. I called about five different customer service numbers in none of them have brought me to anyone, and one of them have said that their service is down right now. My phone bill is due by tomorrow and the rest of my bills are due in the next couple of days. I have no idea how to access all of the money I just put onto the gift card that is not working or how to contact MasterCard about this problem. Please help
Last night I activated my 100$ mastercard gift card. I had $185 funds on amazon from gift cards, so I used that, but my order was around $15 over so I used the card. I checked on the order and it said "payment revision needed." I called amazon and they said it was an issue with the card funds even though it couldn't be. I checked the card balance and the $15 WAS taken from the card. I called mastercard customer service, and they said they "couldn't handle gift cards" so no help there. I'm pretty sure it was for safety purposes, but it's weird they still took out the money from the card.
Did I just get scammed out of $15? How can I order the stuff with the card?
Hey guys, so I have a gift card from mastercard and I used it a few times. I ordered something from pacsun and they did a “processing hold” so they took out some extra money and I had only 8 cents left. I didn’t know about this and tried to buy something else and the card declined. The “hold” finished yesterday and i got my money back but whenever I try to buy something, despite me having enough balance, it declines my purchase. I tried contacting customer support but can anybody else help?
Hello all! For the holidays I got a mastercard gift card that came preloaded with some funds. I wanna use it to upgrade my ship to something fun. However, I keep getting a card declined message at checkout, even though I have checked and made sure I have enough loaded on the card. Any advice for issues with this?
For reference, I want to upgrade to the srv warbond edition from what I have right now and it would cost $100, which is exactly what I have on the card
Update: Thanks for all the comments giving me suggestions. I tried a lot of the methods and still couldn't get it to work so I assume CIG just doesn't take these kinds of giftcards anymore. I ended up just using the funds on other games and will spend some birthday money instead for the upgrade o7
You sure it’s actually $100? I run into a lot of people using reloadable Mastercards who never notice the “processing” fee that usually gets charged within a day of the card being issued or reloaded. The fee can vary but a lot of people load $100 and then are shocked that it gets declined only to realize after the fee they actually have $93.25 or something.
You can try adding it to Amazon. CIG takes Amazon payments. I am not 100% sure on gift card balances for Amazon payments so do some research but I do know they take Amazon payments. I have used that quite a few uh well maybe too many times haha.
So i bought a 50 CAD mastercard gift card and they gave me a code with letters and numbers (no crdit card info) what am I supposed to do with that/ did I just get scammed ????
