What are your thoughts on material design?
I’m still a little unsure of what you mean by “research on components,” but: For web: libraries like Mantine work well for developers headless libraries like Radix-UI give you a ton of control over styling anything that plays well with Tailwind I’m also a huge fan of IBM Carbon. For design system for designers: Mozilla and GitLab also explain things well. Adobe’s design system is interesting to look at as one example of “completeness” measuring with all the checkboxes at the bottom. PatternFly also captures a lot of common variations in components. What does it mean to “use material design”?
They provide code snippets for every component, devs can just copy paste. But it is also highly customizable, so you can still make it your own More on reddit.com

Is Material Design Making All Android Apps Look the Same?
A boring and predictable UI/UX is what users want. Only designers want unique and special. Your app should stand out with functionality, use cases, and value. Yes, you can crank the pretty design up to 11 but if you try to introduce a "quirkie" way to navigate or interact you've just made a roadblock for users. Imagine if someone made a dev tool that wasn't boring and predictable, wouldn't you just look for a dev tool more in line with common guidelines that provides the same functionality? If you're going to make a new UI/UX component that people are unfamiliar with you better be damn sure it's better, because even then people won't like it because it isn't familiar. More on reddit.com

Material Design: Secrets & Stories Behind Google’s UI - Google Design
When it was released in 2014, Google’s open-source design system promised a bold, minimalist aesthetic grounded in the physics of the real world, but unburdened by its limitations. It felt real when so many interfaces did not, and it was underpinned by a philosophy, a set of principles for what good design can do. A decade later, Material Design has become the lingua franca of user interfaces.

What Is Material Design? Definition, Uses, and Examples | Elementor
3 weeks ago - Really, what Material Design did was move away from designing completely flat UIs to designing surfaces that were inspired by paper and ink. Think of it like this: When looked at head-on, a sheet of paper appears flat and two-dimensional. However, in the real world, that’s not actually how it behaves. Paper exists in three dimensions. Sheets of paper create shadows, seams, and folds and can be cut and resized for our needs — something that Google aimed to recreate in the digital space with Material Design.
