I asked Purple what the difference is and got this reply: The Purple Plus has the updated foams in the lower layers. The Costco mattress is using our old foams/standard foams that we use in our Purple mattress, there are just a few more of those layers than in our Purple mattress. r/LifeOnPurple on Reddit: Has anyone bought the new Purple mattress line up? What's your experience?
May 29, 2023 -

I'm looking to buy a new mattress and I've been hearing good things about the new line up from Purple. I'm wondering if anyone here has bought one and what their experience has been like so far.

Specifically, the old models I was interested in the Hybrid 3 or 4. I'm a side sleeper and I'm looking for a mattress that is comfortable and supportive, and I think that translates into the "soft" version of the Restore lineup, or a medium Rejuvinate.

They've only been out for a few weeks, but if you have any experience with the new Purple mattresses, I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thanks!

r/Mattress on Reddit: PurpleFlex vs Purple Renew Costco
January 4, 2025 -

Hi, there are many posts comparing the Purple Plus vs. the Costco Purple Renew. My main takeaway is that the Costco Renew is of a lower quality, using older foam tech.

But now, Purple has the PurpleFlex, and currently on sale at $999 matching the Costco Purple Renew price, also on sale at $999.

Does anyone familiar with the new Flex to know how these compare? I am returning my Costco Stern & Foster to trade for a new purple and both of these Purple options are contenders.

Thank you in advance!

r/LifeOnPurple on Reddit: Replacing OG purple mattress from 2017
October 19, 2023 -

I have loved my og original purple mattress from 2017, it has survived several moves, being thrown down stairwells (on moving day when elevator was broken 😞) and some serious spills. I’ve done my best to take care of it but I fear some pet messes and a tipped beer or 2 may have finally gotten the best of my mattress. I might slice it open to attempt a deep clean, but I noticed purple is running a sale online and I think it’s time to replace it, I heard they last about ten years and honestly 6-7 is good enough for me at this point.

I chatted with a support rep and they said the model “purple mattress” is closest to the og original, which I love it has truly helped my back and made sleeping so much more comfortable for me. Is this correct, the og model is pretty much same as current regular “purple mattress” model?

The rep gave me a code to use and I can get the regular purple queen size for $800 and the $10 CA recycling fee or whatever else they tack on. That’s pretty good and I think I will buy.

Does anyone have a serious reason I should swing for the purple plus? I could do $400 more if it’s worth it but if I like the OG original so much I don’t see the need for the premiere premium $3000 models right now, maybe next time haha 😆

Are their pillows anything crazy to spring for also? I might get their mattress protector and some accessory type stuff too. Any insight would be appreciated thank you! I have an ikea slat bed frame that works great with it so I don’t need a base or anything extra they sell. Besides maybe a pillow or protector

The purple mattress is $400 off at my local Costco right now. I’ve always wanted one, and I sat on the little rectangular sample today and it was so comfortable. I have a bad back and have a coolive hybrid mattress right now, i’ve had it for a few years and like it, but it’s not AMAZING. Is the purple mattress as good as people say it is? Or is my conviction that every mattress is practically the same if it’s a similar material? ie if i get another hybrid mattress it will essentially be the same. I want to get an amazing mattress that I will always be comfortable on and is comfortable for my back. Is that the purple mattress? If so I need to jump on it while it’s $400 off.

Edit: thank you everyone for the great advice!!! looks like I’ll be going to the mattress store to lay on some mattresses. Everyone brought up a great point how if I have a hybrid now, I should stick with it especially if I need support for back pain. I also am going to try the Kirkland Stearns & Foster mattress and the Casper to see which one I like the best. Unfortunately I won’t be able to cash in on the $400 off because it’s not the hybrid, it’s just the grid + foam mattress which most have said doesn’t have have as much support and it doesn’t seem to last as long.

Looking for a new mattress. Went to mattress firm and tried all their hybrids (my preferred, as I don't like the traditional kind and I don't like full memory foam). I laid on the newer purple restore and my back pain was instantly gone. I was just about sold until I started reading people's experiences. I really don't ant to go through the hassle of replacing a mattress that's going to sink in. So I laid on the tempurpedic pro adapt in medium (too expensive, and the one I liked was slightly too soft) and the sealy posturepedic plus in firm (the lady said I wasn't aligned, so slightly too soft). I didn't mind either of these, but neither felt as good as the purple.

So I'm wondering, has anyone had a good experience with them? Or if not, are there any mattresses that have a similar feeling? I'm getting overwhelmed with options.

r/Mattress on Reddit: Purple Mattress RestorePlus - an honest review
March 1, 2024 -

Here is an honest review of the Purple Mattress RestorePlus King firm mattress and foundation.

I purchased the mattress and foundation set a week ago. List price was $4294.

The installers came on Thursday to install the mattress. However, due to a screwup in Purple's system, they didn't have the foundation, and they told me to call Purple to get it delivered.

Having no foundation to install it on, the installers just put the mattress on the floor.

Well, I did call Purple. No one at Purple knows why they screwed up the order, and no one at Purple knows when the foundation will actually be delivered.

That was four days ago, and I've been sleeping on a Purple mattress on the floor ever since.

So what is the mattress like? Well, the little bumps on the mattress are unusual, but the mattress provides firm support and reduces back pain.

However, I must deduct a few points for forcing me to sleep on the floor like a cocker spaniel.

Normally I would expect to pay less than $4294 to sleep on the floor like a cocker spaniel, but Purple at least gives me the comfort of knowing that I am enjoying the latest in sleep technology, while I am sleeping on the floor like a cocker spaniel.

If you have $4294 to burn, and you want a firm mattress with little bumps on it, and you don't mind sleeping on the floor like a cocker spaniel, I can highly recommend Purple.

Otherwise, I cannot recommend that you purchase a Purple mattress. You will be sleeping on the floor like a cocker spaniel, for an indefinite period of time, if you purchase a Purple mattress.

I really want to get a mattress that is for side and stomach sleepers and that help me sleep ! Has anyone had experience with Purple? I am thinking of going with the cheaper route as well with a Costco mattress so if you have a Costco mattress that you’ve enjoyed for side sleepers let me know . 🤗❤️

r/LifeOnPurple on Reddit: Purple Restore Premier Mattress Firm's Proprietary Cool Touch Version
February 27, 2024 -

Just wanted to share some thoughts on this mattress if anyone was interested.

My journey with purple has been interesting. Started with a Hybrid 3", and it was too firm for mine and my wife's liking. We went to the 4" and loved it. Had a warranty issue, stayed with the 4". Had another warranty issue, and now Purple no longer makes the 4".

Their recommendation was the Restore Premier *soft*. When I'm telling you my butt hit something because I sank so deep, I'm not joking. We all know these new versions are using more memory foam than before, but the soft is waaaaayy softer than the previous 4". Way too much memory foam feel (i.e. stuck and can't roll over) not enough grid bounciness.

We liked the Restore Plus *soft*. More bounce, less foam. The Restore Premier *firm* was too firm. We decided to give Mattress Firm's version a try. They say that theirs is a true medium, in between Purples Restore Premier Firm and Soft. I fell in LOVE. It's the most comfortable mattress I've been on. It does have a more foam feel than before, but the grid is still present, and I don't get stuck.

Having said that, there is definitely going to be a transition period. I woke up this morning slightly sore. My wife says it's more firm for her than our 4", which I'm concerned about for her. She's lighter, so she doesn't sink as much as I do.

Anyways, if anyone's interested, I can update this post in a few weeks to give an update after the breaking in period.

UPDATE: Alright, so I've definitely gotten this bed broken in by now and I can say that I really love it. It is very different than our last Purple in that the total feeling of laying on a grid is gone, but that's not bad, just different than it was. As I supected, the bed did cushion up with time and is now very soft and plush feeling. Purple still gives the best overall bed feel as not being being on top of nor inside of the bed. Just the right amount of sink, without all the stuck. Only major concern I have is longevity and whether or not the new memory foam additions will break down. There is already and obvious difference between where I sleep, my wife sleeps, and the middle of the bed. Kind of created a body groove already. Fingers crossed it's just a breaking in groove and doesn't get worse quick. All in all, I recommend it if you're looking for firm plush feel that's less grid forward. If you're not a memory foam fan (and I'm not but some people really hate it) but still want more give, then I would get the Resort Plus in Soft.

November 8, 2023 -

My boyfriend and I were in the market for a new mattress and I have a Purple pillow that I like, so we decided to get the Purple RestorePremier Hybrid mattress. When trying it out in the store the mattress felt good, but after almost 3 weeks of sleeping on it at home we are in a lot of pain every morning.

Here are my main complaints:

-My boyfriend weighs more than I do, so when we lay next to each other I can feel my back being pulled down in the dent he makes in the bed. This causes back pain, and my boyfriend has also complained about back pain since getting the mattress.

-My legs don’t sink down in the mattress at all, so I wake up with really bad leg pain / stiff legs.

-Every little minuscule movement my boyfriend makes in the bed wakes me up. Even just the smallest movements shake the whole bed. Boyfriend says it feels like a waterbed. (Which they say on the website that you shouldn’t feel movements.)

-I also wake up really hot. The salesman said this was the best mattress they had for hot sleepers.

-My boyfriend complains that the bed doesn’t feel firm enough to him, but it feels too firm for me? I wonder if that’s due to the weight difference. (We’re only about 20ish lbs different)

I am at a loss because everyone I talk to loves their mattress. Has anyone else experienced any of these issues? ALSO- if anyone has any mattress recommendations that don’t have these issues please let me know! Hopefully the 100 night return policy isn’t too difficult.

r/Mattress on Reddit: Purple Mattress 2-Year Review
July 23, 2021 -

Originally, I wrote a two-week review for the Purple Mattress I bought. I promised to write a one-month review but got lazy and never did. Since then, I've also brought the Purple SoftStretch Sheets, so I'll be doing a review on those too. I WAS NOT PAID BY PURPLE OR ANYONE ELSE TO WRITE THIS REVIEW! This is of my own volition and I just want to express my own opinion and hopefully help others make a decision.

Purple Customer Service: 5/5 | Delivery Wait Time: 4/5 | Purple Mattress: 7/10 | Purple Plush Pillow: 2/5 | Purple Bed Frame 5/5 | Purple SoftStretch Sheets: 5/5

5/5 I love Purple's Customer Service! The automated messages don't lie when they tell you that they're going to connect you to an amazing, well-rested specialist! The specialists are eloquent and sincere and kind and considerate! Just recently I spoke to one that was especially bubbly and very easy to talk to. He did a wonderful job assisting me.

4/5 For my Purple SoftStretch Sheets, the delivery wait time wasn't so bad. I had to wait around two weeks for them to arrive, and I received a tracking number that made it easy to keep track of the package as well as notifications that kept me up to date.

7/10 I like my Purple Mattress. I really do. But I don't love it. Personally, I feel like I should never have bought it. It's a nice mattress, but it's just nice. It's comfortable to sleep on because the materials aren't too hard or too soft. It's just right. But I feel like it wasn't worth the cost. Personally, the $1K I spent on the mattress could have been used a lot more responsibly, and I could have been just as satisfied with a $300-$400 memory foam mattress. Purple's mattress wasn't some transformative experience that makes every night feel magical and cures all of your body's aches and pains. It makes it easier to sleep, which is much appreciated. But not so much easier that it justifies the $1K price, and not in some magical way that you couldn't get from a cheaper memory foam mattress. Perhaps it will last longer. I've had it for 2 years and I'm going to be honest...I've abused mine quite a bit. But it's still in really great shape and hasn't gone down in quality over the years. It's a pretty ok mattress and I'm sure that whoever buys it will like it. I like it. But if I could go back, I wouldn't have bought it. I will say one thing though. That whole selling point they have about it keeping its temperature? A lie. This bed is cold as hell during the Winter and hot as hell during the summer. It doesn't have anything special that makes it better during different temperatures/seasons.

2/5 The Purple Plush Pillow is decent and just decent. I'm having A LOT of trouble distinguishing it from any normal pillow. This is literally what I've said in my last review and my opinion hasn't changed. It's no wonder I got it for free, it's high-end but basic at the same time. It's pretty alright but plain. I will say it keeps its shape a lot better and for a lot longer than other pillows I've gotten. It's the same as the mattress though, the whole temperature spiel is untrue.

5/5 The Purple Bed Frame is GREAT. SUPER easy to set up, super stable, and has a lot of height, which is what I like from my bed frames. I would recommend it not only for a Purple Mattress but for ANY mattress whatsoever. It's just great all around. It is stable and I love it and I will keep it forever. I have those cheap adhesive tile floors that low-end bedrooms usually get, and a problem I've had in the past with other bed frames is that they'll leave holes in the tiles or outright scrape the tiles off the floor. But the purple bed frame is simplistic and designed VERY well and doesn't scrape my floor. It's SO easy to set up and take apart and I am completely in love with it. Even if I get a different mattress brand in the future, I'll always keep my purple bed frame!

5/5 I love the Purple SoftStretch Sheets! They're really great! I feel like this should be the standard for all bedsheets! They're soft and stretchy and comfortable and look great on my mattress! I received it as a set, so it came with two sheets, one fitted and one flat. I prefer the fitted one, but since they're literally giving me an extra bed sheet I gave the flat one to my brother! It also came with two pillowcases which, like the bedsheets, are very comfortable! I'm super happy with my purchase. My only criticism is that this set is...explicitly overpriced. It was overpriced when I bought them, and they were ON SALE for $116. And right now? They're $170. I hope that Purple knows they're driving people away with their prices!

Overall, my experience with Purple would be: 7/10

If I could go back, I wouldn't have bought the Purple Mattress. But that doesn't mean I don't like it and that I'm not happy I have it now. It's comfortable and it works and after two years of having it, that's all that matters now. I would definitely recommend buying some of their side products, like the sheets or the bed frame. You don't need the mattress itself in order to have an enjoyable sleeping experience, their other products help in a lot of ways. Happy buying!

r/Mattress on Reddit: Absolutely fell in love with a mattress, then I saw the price tag - help?
January 25, 2023 -

For the past fifteen years or so, I've been searching for my white whale of a mattress. I just wanted a cal king version of the full size mattress I had when I was single. I would've paid a lot for it, but wasn't ever able to find something equivalent. So I've been using a random memory foam mattress for the past several years while casually shopping for something new. I saw that Costco has a Purple Renew mattress now, which is apparently similar/same as the Purple Plus.

So I made the trek to the local Purple store to try it out - it was terrible, for me. Too soft. But since I was there, I figured I'd try them all. The moment I laid on the Purple Rejuvenate, I knew it was the one. I had found my Moby Dick. Not too firm, not too soft, just right. Like I was floating on top, but still well enveloped. Then I saw the price tag: $6,500 (Labor Day sale knocked a whole $500 off, sheesh.)

All this to ask - is this the one? Should I splurge? I can afford it, but $6,500 on a mattress is absurd. Is it so unique that there isn't another mattress out there that can give me the same love-at-first-lay-down feeling? ($2k was my original maximum)

I'm more than a bit mattress obsessed, seems like we have that in common. I had a similar reaction when I recently had a chance to try the Purple RejuvenatePremier and was shocked at how good it felt. Very supportive but with a perceived perfect balance of conformance, and then I saw the price of $7,495 for a queen mattress only. Having purchased many expensive mattresses over the years and rarely have any lived up to my expectations, so I couldn't justify purchasing such a costly mattress. Too often what feels exceptional in the showroom ends up either killing my back or having some other problem. I've also read of many having durability issues with Purple mattresses which further diminished my consideration of a purchase. I then read of a buyer of the exact mattress here who was similarly impressed by the same mattress only to be terribly disappointed by it once he actually slept on it. He was in extreme pain unlike any other mattress he'd previously had and couldn't figure out why, and ended up returning the mattress. So I'd be very cautious about making the purchase unless you are adventurous and given a full refund return policy. Sorry to be a killjoy!

I’ve been researching mattresses for months at stores and the one that I found the best is Aireloom or Hotel Collection (Macy’s). It’s an actual mattress — not from a box. It’s sold from generally higher end retailers It’s a little on the pricier end, but you can sometimes find it discounted It’s a handmade mattress, with a ton of coils and stuff. I don’t really remember the mechanics of the why’s but my back pain felt better — which is what I was looking for
