If it’s not specifically for petite women or doesn’t have the length listed, don’t buy any random dress online. Just to save yourself the headache of returning or reselling. Midi’s have always been fine for me, but I have never found a maxi dress that worked, unless already labeled petite. More on reddit.com

Loft often has petite maxi dresses in the summer. I'm 5' 3" so a bit taller than you... but I find the Loft maxi dress length fits me alright.
Can you hem at all? I take my maxi dresses up 3-4" as is necessary. Especially if that's the only "fit area" that's off for you, hemming it up seems like a good solution. If you can't sew, I can't imagine it would be expensive to have it done professionally.

I wear maxi dresses year round at 5'1 and I'm fine. You may need to get it shortened by a tailor but that usually costs me $15.
