Do you have any recommendations for wireless mechanical keyboards that are great for MacOS?
I have been looking at the Keychron keyboards but wasn't sure if there were any other alternatives to compare them to.
I appreciate all the help.

Hello, im using a corsair keyboard rn with the standart windows layout. I dont want to search up the characters everytime on google...so i want to know if there is a keyboard similar to corsair ones that got the macOS layout.
It should be mechanical with high keycaps and rgb in the best case (normal led is okay too)
Price dosen't matter and it should have the "qwertz" layout.
thanks
I am under the budget of $80-$100 . And finding the keycaps included for mac or keycaps of mac by default is already a hustle and I only find a single company which is keychron . Their k series and v series is pretty mediocre among the competition in that price range with aula f75 pricing at just $45-$50 sounding better in my opinion . I like the creamy sound . I know keychron offer hot swappable switches but I am in a tight budget . Any suggestions would be helpful .
Anyone have any recommendations for a quality MacOS mechanical clicky keyboard? I currently have a //cheaper// Corsair mechanical but the key mapping gets tiresome.
Thanks!
I'm looking for a wireless, mechanical, backlit keyboard for my macbook air. I'm also under a tight budget, so recommend some cheap ones.
Edit: budget <$80 Size: above 70%
I'm pretty new to mechanical keyboards, but I am looking for the best mechanical keyboard for mac, with RGB backlighting and tactile switches. If it had the mac layout that would be really great and perfect.
Do you have any suggestions?
I’m about to upgrade my Mac. I’ve always gone with the compact Magic Keyboard. The new silicon chips support Touch ID, which would be useful for me.
However, I’ve recently fallen down the rabbit hole of mechanical keyboards and wondering if the grass is greener. I use a keyboard for work (so a lot of typing)… I know this is subjective, but are they really a full replacement for an Apple Magic Keyboard or a nice alternative/bit of fun for when you want to switch things up? Part of me is tempted to hust stick with all Apple because everything works well together.
I’m also asking this question because after 6 years of heavy use my current Magic Keyboard feels pretty rubbish to type on.
Hello ppl it’s been around 6-7 months since I purchased my m4 which is pretty amazing and I bought midnight so it’s quite annoying me with that finger print issue so though of buying keyboard in which it’ll cool me down suggest me some budget friendly options
All the keychron keyboards are over prized here in India, so I was looking for a alternative mech keyboard to use on my set up. Also if you have any suggestions regarding it feels free to comment. I am also thinking about buying a normal mech keyboard and then replace some keycaps.
Coming from a gaming background, I’ve been used to good mechanical keyboards for the past 10+ years. For professional reasons, I’m working in the MacOS environment. I’m using a MacBook Pro 16 (M1 Pro) and I have to say the keyboard is pretty good. But, having a gaming setup at home with a mechanical keyboard make Mac’s keyboard feel really bad.
I’ve looked to buy one with all the MacOS keys (Cmd, …) but I’ve not found a lot of references. Seems like the mechanical keyboard for Mac market is not really popular.
Do you guys have any good recommendations ?
Hi all, I was wondering what mechanical keyboards you might use with an external monitor setup. I have a dream where I can use my macbook on the go and plug it into a usbc monitor and suddenly have access to a keyboard/mouse setup.
Thanks!
Keychron K2, best MacOS keyboard that isn't the magic one. I recommend the aluminum one. https://www.keychron.com/products/keychron-k2-mechanical-keyboard (The K1 also works, being in black is a plus too)
ducky one two mini - change the key bindings and sorted :) super clean and works beautifully!
This is mainly for those who do use them for their work since you’re more likely to want something either more comfortable or feature rich than a casual user. At work i have a mac studio and they gave me a generic windows logitech keyboard and magic mouse which i couldn’t stand so i brought in one of those old Apple Pro Keyboards and i forgot how much i like this keyboard. It’s just really comfortable to me and a lot harder to accidentally press a key compared to the magic keyboard my imac at home has. One thing im surprised apple doesn’t have is a backlit keyboard since i like to work in the dark in my office, but since there’s usb ports on the back of the keyboard i put one of these little lights on it lol.
I’m curious what non apple ones you all are using. I’d imagine touchID is what keeps a lot of people on the magic keyboard because that’s why i can’t justify replacing my keyboard at home (that, and i still want it color matched)
I’m looking to get a mechanical keyboard for my Mac, and I’m not sure what to get. My only must-have features are Cherry MX Blue switches and a Mac layout. Otherwise I’m not too picky. Any suggestions?
EDIT: Hey everyone, I really appreciate all your help and suggestions! I’m trying to reply to everyone because I really appreciate all the help!
I love WASD. pretty sure they have Mac configurations.
Check out r/MechanicalKeyboards if you haven’t already. Any keyboard will work for Mac, you just have to change the modifier keys in the system preferences.
If you want something now the Pok3r and WASD CODE keyboards are good.
If you want something more custom, Massdrop has a groupbuy for the Tokyo60 going on right now. It’s a great programmable board but will take some getting used to the layout and you’ll need to buy keycaps for it.
Massdrop also makes the CTRL and ALT keyboards that are alse really great and have a more standard layout, however they are not available right now.
Looking for a Mac-friendly mech board for a quiet studio setup. Priorities: macOS legends (Cmd/Opt), reliable wired USB-C (Bluetooth as a bonus), low latency, hot-swappable switches, and QMK/VIA if possible. Prefer tactile or quiet linears (nothing too loud), and a compact layout (65% or TKL) with good build so it doesn’t flex while typing.
Budget ~$100–$200. Any models you love on a Mac Studio? Must-have features, switch suggestions, and brands to avoid?
Hey there! I have a quick question, I'm not looking for a particular keyboard but I would like to know what brand to buy and then do some research. My budget is up to 100€ (I'm from Spain btw, so European brands and sites would fit my needs better). I just want a keyboard that works well with my windows pc and MacBook Pro and I don't want to spend a lot in a Logitech keyboard. I prefer the UK distribution and that's pretty much it. I just want a versatile keyboard with Apple keycaps.
Hey everyone! I hope this is the right place to post this. I have a MacBook pro 2019 and an iMac & I’m trying to find a good mechanical keyboard for them.
I’ve previously tried the Anne Pro, which did not successfully connect to my MacBook. Thus, I was wondering if folks could share the mechanical keyboards they use and love! I am open to any kind of keyboard recommendations.
Thank you for sharing!
PS — if you’ve used the Epomaker RT 100, or any Epomkaer keyboards, do you have any thoughts or reviews?
I´m currently looking for a new wireless keyboard for my macOS Work-Setup.
My question is, if i need (or what benefits i will have) the Mac-Version, or if im fine with the general MX Mechanical.
Pro´s & Con´s as far as i am concernded:
- MX Mech. Mini for Mac is white (preferred) but you cant choose the switches (right?)
- MX Mech. is available as full layout keyboard which is usefull imo (numpad) and you can choose preferred switches.
Help please, i am really lost :D
Choosing the right mechanical keyboard is subjective. I would say a “Good keyboard”, mechanical or otherwise, is something that actually assists you in getting your work done in a manner that is easy and hassle free.
The mechanical one, it all depends on the kind of switches it has and the amount of features it has that “you actually use”. So many people buy a keyboard and end up hating it because it has the wrong switches or form factor.. why? Because they don’t really know what they want out of the keyboard.
I would say that you should decided 3 things before choosing a mechanical keyboard.
What size of keyboard suits you and your needs.
What kind of switches you want? If you are new to the mechanical keyboard area, you need to find out what kind of switches you prefer.
Do you have any aches and pains? If you are having discomfort typing on a standard keyboard, then you should consider an ergonomic keyboard.
Plus, here are non-negotiable premium keyboard must-have characteristics in my opinion. Talking mechanical input, a whole list of elite capabilities come quickly to mind:
-Responsive. Game enemies are taken out as soon as a key is mashed. Writers benefit, getting into the creative groove without annoying backspace deleting.
-Reduced wear. Cheap membrane switches tear. Mechanical switches last far longer and provide a far more satisfying typing experience.
-Tactile feedback. The satisfying click of a premium switch eliminates finger hesitation, enhancing typing flow and accuracy.
-Typing comfort. Stress slips away when switch actuation is mechanical, leading to a reduction in finger fatigue. Writers write longer and gamers gain stamina.
-Switch quality. Different response levels and actuation feels come from elite keyboards with mechanical components. Games talk time, reaction times matter.
-Customizability. Swap the keycaps or change the backlighting pattern, opting for a setup that suits your unique gaming style or writing habits.
-Reliability. Writers hate spell checking and gamers dislike inacurate key inputs. Mechanical keyboards tend to register data entries more precisely.
These performance factors will all play a role in getting potential products high on my best recommendations of mechanical keyboard MVP list below. Other features to be on the look out for are known switch brands, aluminum-like build quality, and actuation adjustability. For the latter feature, it pays to be able to customize the registering distance on the key switches; you can tailor the typing experience for light, fast data entry or for heavier inputs on a button smashing game.
