Hey Windows 10 users,
[Updated October 11, 2025]
Microsoft has just confirmed that the Windows 11 Media Creation Tool (MCT) may not work properly on Windows 10, version 22H2.
Specifically, Windows 11 MCT Build 26100.6584, which was released on September 29, 2025, is not work correctly on Windows 10 and may close unexpectedly without displaying an error message.
Microsoft is working on resolving this issue and will release a future MCT update to fix it. I will add a comment below this answer if there is any new information. In the meantime, affected users can download the Disk Image (ISO) from the "Download Windows 11" website instead of the MCT.
I welcome everyone to forward this answer and inform other Windows 10 users on Reddit and other platforms.
Thank you so much!
Best regards,

Tool works under win 11, but under win 10 it crashes immediately. Issue reproduced on 3 different systems. Big fail microsoft, big fail.
I managed to installed Windows 11 on a couple of unsupported PCs, mostly for incompatible processors and no TPM 2.0. Go and try the best reply in this Microsoft discussion: How can I force to install Windows 11 on unsupported PC?
Our company has a couple of desktop PCs running Windows 10 for years. Now, the management team decided to upgrade those machines to Windows 11 as Windows 10 will be out of support next month. The problem is that some of the PCs are not officially supported by Windows 11, mostly because of incompatible processors and no TPM 2.0.
Clearly, the Windows 11 Media Creation Tool made by Microsoft does not work for unsupported hardware. Is there any other options out there for both supported and unsupported PCs?
Tried running it today on two different client machines, and all i get is a brief Windows logo flash and then… nothing. No error, no dialog, no logs that i can see. Just a silent fail.
Anyone else seeing this, or did i just hit the unlucky lottery?
Update:
It's getting better and better...
Now I can't even download the ISO anymore.
All I get is a chef's kiss quality Microsoft error page:
"We encountered a problem processing your request. Please try again later."
Reference ID: [insert absurd GUID here]
At this point, even Rufus is starting to feel like a critical infrastructure tool.
Seriously, how does Microsoft manage to break their own installer and their ISO download in the same two weeks?

“Try using the Microsoft Media Creation Tool,” they said.
“This method bypasses the web-based ISO download and is more reliable,” they said.
*rofl*
And the best part?
This all happens on the exact day Windows 10 support officially ends.
You literally couldn't script better timing.
